ParticipantRe: Hygena AHY8122 thermostat(s)?
Wasn’t keen on ordering part without pictures etc. so went back to job and took off stats and brought them away for testing at home.
The stats were mounted in a row of three in a black plastic bracket which clips onto the edge of the plastic sump. Springs within the assembly hold the stats against the stainless tank base.
Stats were 50 N/O, 62 N/O and 78 N/C labelled on their faces. I checked their operation with a thermocouple and fan heater and they were all OK.
I then ordered some equivalents from RS for a lot less money and cracked open the old ones to check for burnt contacts. The contacts were all clean.Returned to job and fitted new stats and with plenty of heat transfer compound. In doing so, noted that the stats were not making contact with the base very effectively so perhaps that was the cause of all the problems. Left customer to test it and send payment if successful. Cheque arrived a few days later and that was a week ago so hopefully all is OK now.
Thanks again for the help Chris,

Doh! If only I’d known that before.
Went back yesterday. Did the above. Everything kicked back into life.
Customer did not have instruction manual. I’m wondering if that would have been in there.
Many thanks Tim.

ParticipantRe: Hygena AHY8122 thermostat(s)?
Thanks Chris,
I think that thread refers to the overload stat (78deg).
Anyway I’ve decided to go for a thermolimiter assy from connect which is 5045171919145 at £12.44. This equates to HYG1980120800830 I think, and also fits Diplomat ADP8152 and Baumatic BDW6 apparently.
I’ll post results as and when as it’s o.o.s.
Mike.
PS Isn’t it wonderful how every query posted here adds to this vast databank of knowledge. If ever I need this info again it’s quicker to find it here than in my own parts ordering history. Take another pat on the back UKW!leavemetogetonwithit
ParticipantRe: Vented t/dryers – optimum hose length?
Thanks for the info, spanner and johnmac. She’s joined up the very short foil hoses presumably supplied with machines to very long plastic hoses. I think they were 6″ but they’re going so far and all behind various furniture that they’re probably holding up the flow.
She complained of very low heat so I took along a “cut out kit including high limit stat” and a stat – the one with the accelerator resistor.
When I arrived a different operator was using it and informed me that it had been working fine for her. I just went ahead and fitted the stats anyway and gave it a bit of a clean out and brought the old stats away to examine when I have time.
I think I’ll give her a ring when she gets back from hols and inform her of the situation.

ParticipantRe: Miele wt946 inlet/filter light flashing
Had a Miele w504 washer (only 12 m old but commercial use so not in gtee) with two lights flahing “check inlet filter” and “check drain filter” or words to that effect.
It was a flood prevention float switch in base had triggered due slow insidious leak. Has your model got one such?

If they recycled 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} and composted/biogassed 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} that would suggest they have cracked the “zero waste” problem. Something wrong with the figures here methinks or at least the definition of “recycle”. They are very likely well ahead of us but not that far. I saw pics of an incinerator for municipal waste sited in Vienna a few years ago. That’s not really “recycling” is it? If we wanted to match their performance we would need to build a whole lot of incinerators, too. The UK gov. have been trying to implement this policy for a few years but have come up against a lot of public opposition. Which is one of the reasons why they’re now in the process of trying to get planning laws changed to make it easier to get past said opposition.

ParticipantRe: creda tcr2/keeps stopping
I’ve had a similar problem with a T622CW – replaced stats then uF then relay and have to return this week as it’s “not working again”. Is the timer on this one also weak?

If it’s the big Schrack relay RM505730 240v 16A then I get them from http://www.rswww.com for about £7 each. Normally in stock. Free delivery by DHL included!

ParticipantRe: Knocking Bosch
Not sure if this will be relevant but had a heck of a problem locating a knocking noise on a Hotpoint WM series a little while back. Turned out to be the aluminium bearing housing moving slightly in the plastic outer tub.

ParticipantRe: Connect next day delivery? Am I just unlucky?
If you place an order below the threshold and have to pay carriage you are automatically charged £5.50 carriage. Yet if your order is below a certain weight (5kg, I was told by an operative today) it gets sent by royal snail. This is chargable at £3.25 but if you don’t ring and have a moan you’ll just pay £5.50 and not be any the wiser. And when you try to use the old 0121 number you just get a message telling you to call 0870….
On the plus side I have found the operatives polite and sympathetic – the fault is with the company policy.

Isn’t this a tactile switch soldered to the board? I had one go once. Got a bag of twenty from RS for £2 with free delivery and just cut stalk to right size.

PM me if you’d like me to send you a half dozen.leavemetogetonwithit
ParticipantRe: Hoover HSPF167 five flashes
Got new board from Gias. Their retail was same as connect’s trade price, then they gave me 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} trade discount without need for evidence.
The bad news is when fitted the m/c still not working. With new board in, door didn’t even lock – not getting neutral. Everything else checks out OK. Could be fascia board I suppose but it didn’t look damaged in any way. Had had enough so advised customer to replace machine.
Any body thinks they may need a coreboard 09200654 in near future, please save this post and make me an offer.

ParticipantRe: Questions for module whiz kids?
See if you can find a number on the old triac. Go to http://www.rswww.com and tap it into the search engine there. If you can find the same or similar you’ll get a whole spec sheet for it. Then just look for a slightly bigger one.

Will ring customer and see what she thinks about coughing up for new board.
Hate these electronics. Why can’t they spread the controls over two or three boards and thus make machines economically repairable?
