Is there a catch?
Chris.Yep. If you get your fuel cheaper you’ll feel you can use it more profligately (less carefully) which means you’ll drive further which means you’ll spend more time at the wheel and less time doing what you really want to do. (Unless that is what you really want to do).
If your fuel gets more expensive, and it is nearly certain that it will, you’ll have to learn to use less and gradually you’ll come to realise that “less is more.”

ParticipantRe: miele washers & tumbles
Brushes, door interlocks are the most usual faults I’ve come across in my limited experience of the washers. Straightforward but heavy work, more like working on a vehicle! Give me a Beko anyday!

What fuse? Is this something I don’t know about? Is it the FHP motor then?
Only thing I know of is a t.o.c. in old type motor which is self resetting I thought. 😕
Very unusual fault whatever it is you’re referring to. Sounds like time for a new/exchange motor. Some s/h ones have been going on e-bay pretty reasonable if you’re out of stock.

If you do find out please let us all know. There are several makes like that where you have to buy the whole heater assy just because a stat’s gone.

Anyhoo, twas just in test mode, cheers Mike!
‘Twas Iadom who helped me with this info last year and I just put it in error codes.
Was lucky not to get a belt meself as the module was the first thing I looked at that day. One of the advantages of being slow; probably the thing had discharged itself by the time I got to it. 😀

Chris.
So this normally occurs only in smoking households?
I’ll get my coat.

ParticipantRe: Disposal of old parts
Sorry Iadom,
I didn’t mean “you” personally, I meant it as a general “you”. I gave up that side of the business myself more than 5 years ago. Far more hassle than it’s worth with new ones below £200.

This is nothing short of scandalous. IMO it merits a complaint to trading standards. If it happens to me that is what I’ll do. 😡

I don’t see a problem until you actually arrive at the dump with it. Until then it’s your word against theirs as to whether it’s “waste” or parts/machines you’re taking home to repair or salvage. Nevertheless, another good reason to give up the re-con trade if you needed one.

Dunnit make you sick? Another good reason for having a call out minimum charge. If you did this on a “free estimate” basis then you’ve gone to all that trouble for nada, nil, zilch. At least if your call out is £20 then they are faced with “only another £68 and we’re there”.(Based on £40 + £48 part). I looked it up it’s £41 something +vat with Seme = £48 total. Why not see if EMW or QER can fix it or have a re-con in stock? Or what about a request in “Classifieds” forum. Could be somebody’s broke one up recently. Last resort e-bay(bit unlikely but you never know).
If they’re dumping it, at least have the motor. Another UKW member told me he bought a Beko motor on e-bay this morning.

So the motor got a bit warm? Is the new one too expensive?

ParticipantRe: AEG cooker
Could it be a self re-setting TOC? You can find a good selection on rswww.com . You need to remove the old one and read the writing on it with a magnifying glass then try that in the RS search facility. Sometimes you can find one out of an old w. m’c pump but you need to check the specs obviously.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool rip off!!!! you have to laugh
Think I saw some “universal” fan motors, of a small selection of power ratings, on either Connections or Masterpart the other day. Must be worth a search. Otherwise try “Classified” forum or e-bay!

ParticipantRe: AEG Dishwasher side panels
Sounds like you need to order in a supply of spare ones if you get this often. Then warn the customer that it’ll cost them an extra £5(?) for replacement lugs before you take off the panels!
Alternatively find a good hardware shop and find an alternative fixing. Or Maplin (electronics) for plastic rivets.

ParticipantRe: AEG Dishwasher side panels
Not too certain about this but remember back about seven years ago looking at something like that. Aren’t they the type of plastic rivet which are in two parts? If so, the centre will push out (and probably get lost, so you need some spares) and you can then remove the outer which is like a rawl plug and expands as you push the central “pin” into it.
