Re: Miele W504 / Premier 500 door seal.

Thanks Chris, I’ll see if I can do a temporary fix on the old one – apparently it’s only the lip at the top but she says it leaks. It’s 8 miles away and isolated so I’m going to try and put her off for a bit anyway. Nursing home though, though they do have another machine.

50Kohms is probably a thermistor and that’s quite likely a good reading. Dunno why the pressure switch was clicking, where I live they’re almost never a problem (soft water). I’ve heard those analogic ones are easily damaged, e.g. just by blowing into them. All in all, you’ve got a real headscratcher there, probably best to give it a rest and go back to it later.

If interlock is dead, it could be that it has shorted internally. This often takes out part of board; though I haven’t yet seen this model.

As I expect you are aware, radio interference filters are favourites for producing burning smells before finally giving up.

Do you mean the dryer motor has stopped spinning or the drum?
As regards the dryer motor, don’t worry about resistance of coil. It would be very unusual if that was “wrong” without definite signs of burning! Also, it would need to have had a fair bit of use before the bearings in it would wear. Your problem is most likely elsewhere. Clogged condenser perhaps or just possibly iffy connection somewhere. Check especially connections to all thermostats / thermistors. There’s probably one in the condenser to sump hose you might not know about. Anyway, you’ve got a washing machine at least, haven’t you?

Pretty sure that motor runs on 240v, not stepped down. Might be a label on it somewhere (may have dropped off) to say so. The black dust may come from the little belt that it uses to drive the fan (unless they’ve changed the design).

in reply to: Is this WMA bearing kit genuine? #346972

Re: Is this WMA bearing kit genuine?

Pretty much as I thought. It’ll do the job I’m sure but I won’t be recommending the seller, unless it turns out the same markings are to be found on genuine kit. We all know how important a good seal is. Last genuine kit I had was in a plastic bag rather than a box though.

Something not right with your model no.
    IWD or IWC?
indesitservice.co.uk or 08448 116 999 you will probably find helpful.

I’d like to know that too. I have a customer with one which has been broken off for years but still works.

in reply to: bosch electrical smell #269842

    Re: bosch electrical smell

Just been out to a WFL2000 which I had fitted new brushes to 2 months ago. I had done the job with exceptional care (just like I always do 🙂 ) as I particularly didn’t want a callback due to remote location.
Found one brush shiny and one blackened. On withdrawing the old brushes I noticed there was plenty of resistance from the retaining tab on the “good” side but none at all on the “bad” side. This doesn’t make much sense to me but I didn’t want to investigate further because machine is in cubby hole and I had already given it a good clean up last time.
Any thoughts? Will I be going back again in another couple of months?
    Mike.
PS There was no smell reported but this seemed like a good thread to use for the context.

That’s bizarre. OK, just out of curiosity, what relay was it? (I’d like to be prepared for when I come across one.)

Need relays? Get numbers off old one(s) and put in RS search box or into Google. Ditto triacs or whatever.
