Thankfully it’s rare where i live to come across this type of person so wasn’t kinda prepared for it. In the 20 years i have been doing this i have never come across like an individual like him.
Good lord, you’re lucky then 😯 Thought these sorts were everywhere 🙂
I could do with a change of scene and some peace & quiet … do you need a helper over there Micky?? 8)

Exactly. The general population contains a percentage of chancers like this guy. If you give in to them once they will continue to take the p*ss as I’ve learned from experience :rolls:

ParticipantRe: Noisy Bosch pumps
Often think that about the many induction motor machines on the market today, they can be tumbling with barely a whisper coming from the mechanical bits, just the sloshing of the load breaking the peace… quite soothing like the old zan washcrafts.
Then the crappy plastic mag pump rattles into life and spoils things somewhat 😯
Probably cost no more than a couple of quid to put a decent, quiet shaded pole style unit with decent bearings and a metal shaft. :rolls:

Surely the plastic can be peeled/scraped off gandh ? I’ve had this before and dont recall it getting too much of a grip.
The reason behind it is likely to just be the brush overheating because of high resistance but you would need to test for a satisfactory insulation value of course.
I find these ceset lumps are pretty hardy though 😉Madmac
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WT761 G Bearings
Cheers chaps, minimal play as she stopped it quickly so hope to get away with bearings alone. Did think these induction motor machines would leave us stuck for repair work but in the 4 years shes owned it I’ve replaced the door handle, the heater, a mouldy door seal and now the bearings next week..happy days! 8)

The reduced energy consumption ‘carrot’ is getting pretty threadbare now IMO (excuse mixed metaphors)
Its a tool they’ll all continue to use if they think it’ll increase sales volumes in the industry of course ‘cos thats all that matters to all manufacturers and their representatives. period.Logically then, their next claim will have to be that they’ve found a way of getting round the laws of physics 😯
After all, it takes the same amount of energy to heat a litre of water no matter what they claim, ‘tricks’ like circulation pumps can help a given amount of hot soapy water do a little more but thats been around for decades 😯There aint nuffin new under the sun :rolls:

All the guy from the manufacturers association could do was drone on about how we could all save the planet by buying the latest appliances blah, blah blah :rolls: Totally predictable, but thats his job I guess.
Ken got a fair few useful points across but I think the MC should have allowed our guy a lot more airtime than he did, the other studio guest seemed to grab twice as much… and I wasn’t sure what the hell she was on about half the time to be honest 😯

Its a pity a certained moustachioed german dictator gave eugenics such a bad name… I truly believe theres a place for it, allowing people like this to reproduce is much more immoral than preventing them from doing so IMO.
There was something on the news a few weeks ago about an American who was dishing out cash to British druggies in exchange for them getting the snip 😯
A predictable outcry ensued :rolls: ‘Goes against human rights’.. ‘eugenics lite’ blah blah.. :rolls:What rights did that child have while its lungs filled with soapy water?

Had a very similar experience some time ago.. some people have very sad lives, got to feel sorry for some of them really 🙁
Martin’s tale makes me feel soo grateful to have good neighbours.. once these petty disputes start they tend to turn into WW3 :rolls:
Nobody wants to lose face by backing down and eventually all hell breaks loose.. not good. 🙁Madmac
ParticipantRe: Where do you draw the line ? Rodents !!!
Working in such a rural area means I get quite a few ‘mouse jobs’ over the course of a year 🙂
Last one was 10 days ago in fact, drain hose on Hotpoint dishwasher took their fancy.More power to their little elbows I say 😉

ParticipantRe: Service Wash
Ran our machine (‘donated’ AEG LW1050) through a 30deg and 40 deg wash last night with a plug in power meter attatched.
Total consumption 0.61kwh on the 30deg and 0.80kwh on the 40deg. 😯
So, fairly predictable 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} increase in energy use, clothes seemed clean enough on both cycles though. Our machine does whiff a little though I’ll admit 🙂
