We in the trade are faced many times with dilemma’s just like this I’m afraid. Plug a new one in will likely fix the problem, but which one? or maybe both are at fault? How much do you want to throw into sorting this problem?
All I can say is that a duff Hoover AC180 is better than a brand new Hoover. (which tells you something about modern Hoover’s I guess?)

ParticipantRe: The least noisy Frost Free fidge/freezers?
We have a constant running battle with our Proline FF771 Frost Free Freezer over the racket it creates in our kitchen. 👿
I’ve wedged bits of underlay under its feet, placed thick furniture foam between it and the wall and even the odd thin piece of card into the control panel to stop it’s constant spurious noises. It vibrates, clicks, whistles and gurgles, but only when I choose to sit quietly and read the newspaper or puzzle the daily crossword. It’s timing is brilliant and sure puts a new meaning to the phrase “the silence is deafening”….
Now I have no idea who makes Proline but I suspect for all I know it comes from a panel beaters parlour in Paramaribo, where sound is neither “linear” nor there to them :rotfl:
So, if you suddenly spot a tall white Proline Freezer sticking out of a skip near you….. :rotl:

Oh dear!….it certainly could be if the water that flooded the cellar also got into the electronics?? 🙁

ParticipantRe: Amusing Anecdotes & Other Tales
I went to an old Philips 099a yesterday but I couldn’t extract the machine from under the worktop. Due to the fact that the concrete weights have disintegrated and formed a concrete mountain under the machine, wedging it against the ceramic tiles that are butted up to the baseplate!
The customer will have to get the worktop removed before he can dump it!Martin
ParticipantRe: Animal damage
I had a nesting mouse in a Bosch diswasher last month that had a fettish for white seedless grapes, the base was full of them!
My customer thought her daughter had eaten all the grapes as they had dissappeared from the fruit bowl overnight!
For me the ‘Toad in the hole’ fault I solved last year was the most unusual fault I’ve come across :-

flooded_cellar wrote:Is it the pressure switch?
What is it with you and the Pressure Switch eh, what are you like?
There’s nothing wrong with the pressure switch, what’smore the machine appears to be operating normally now from your last description 🙂
Now put it on Prog 5, stand back and let it get on with the job of washing your clothes again 😀

flooded_cellar wrote:should the pressure chamber (a diamond shaped white plastic box) be uright or on its side?
Put it back as it was.
flooded_cellar wrote: which is the pressure switch,
The device at the other end.
flooded_cellar wrote: what is the function of the grey cable that goes to the belt brake type of thing at the back of the machine?
Safety door release mechanism
flooded_cellar wrote:Has this got anything to do with my problem?
No!
flooded_cellar wrote:what is the function of the switch mounted on to the outer drum above the door latch?
Out of balance detector.
flooded_cellar wrote:a more flipant question – what is the best brand of dehumidifer?
Ebac are good.

ParticipantRe: AEG Dishwasher side panels
Same problem when you need to remove the decor door on Bosch/Neff integrated dishwashers. A small white plastic plug hides the attaching screw and the plug cannot be removed without damaging it!

ParticipantRe: Graphics for my Adverts
In that case I would’nt get too elaborate as its better to use a ‘cartoon’ illustration of the appliance/s and to list manufacturers names alongside rather than using their logo’s.

JoeBloggs wrote:Any ideas ?
Yes! One more stab at this one……..buy a dishwasher cleaning agent and run that through an ‘Intensive’ wash with the top basket and the bottom spray arm removed whilst its flushing through. That may clean the soil sensor in the heater unit 💡

ParticipantRe: Hoover Soft Wave 1100 no operation
The exact model number would be handy Stewart, without that I guess it is a door lock/interlock problem perhaps?

johnnyhoz wrote:photo’s for my Adverts
What type of adverts are you needing the photo’s and stuff for?
Yellow Pages have their own ‘art dept’ so too do local newspapers or printers who can do it for you. Other than that, many photo’s can be ‘acquired’ here on the Internet of course for your own intervention and creativity to shine through 😉
