Yeah, crud in the sump inlet pipe forcing the float switch to trip. Whip it out goose and give it a clean! 🙂

    Re: Supermen

I have to bite my tongue when I read quotes from trade members quoting times it takes for certain jobs “35 mins for a WM spigot/bearing change” was one classic load of BS.

Takes me back to 1970 when BDA Hotpoint took over English Electric and their engineers joined our ‘happy throng’ and we were forced to join the TGWU as a result. The smart arses at E/Elec had allocated only a ‘2 call rate’ to strip a Liberator drum to replace the bearings, when even the fastest of workers in a typical small kitchen environment could not possibly do such a repair in less than ‘3 call’ rate! 👿

    “8 screws, 15 minutes tops”………….yeah right 🙄

Access the motor via removing the rear half panel, loads of screws, plenty of swearing!

Credit where credit is due eh? Indesit have to be the first company to have ‘revolutionised’ the inlet valve v’s dispenser problem! Bung the valve and dispenser together in one unit………brilliant!

New concept or big c*ck-up I wonder? It’s a big overall production cost saving exercise after all said and done. But another example of a component failure that will inevitable result in a BER outcome. 🙁

The slot-in size of the machine should be OK as with the door panel. BUT it would be far better if you measured the panel yourself and actually checked with the showroom model you intend to buy first in the showroom. Internet information (measurements etc) can often be inaccurate, far better you double check directly 😉

Fully integrated means the controls are hidden on top of the door with a full height door panel. Semi-integrated has the controls visible at the front with the panel attached below 🙂

Good Lord!..This takes me back to the mid 60’s…when I was young and handsome 8)

Now even after all these years I can recall that one ‘Field Coil’ winding goes to one Carbon Brush terminal (the shorter of the 2) and the longer wire goes through the black casing (adjacent hole) round the side and through another hole alongside the terminal block and onto the terminal opposite the neutral lead (blue lead these days – was black in those days!)

    ahhh such sweet memories….. 🙄

By using the 2 stats on the exhaust cowling (3 on the exhaust in total) instead of timed t/stat heat control on the heater box! 😉

I work it out (on Laurence’s quoted prices that is) at around £6.50 per week in the first year and £5 a week in the 2nd. So that’s not too bad if you can put all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

Buying the TDS DVD = £20 (per year ‘ish) SIOS CD Rom a similar rate and the rubbish Indesit CD (costing £82.25 this year) equates to shelling out some £120 ‘ish per year in total maybe? (£2.30 per week). So whilst the latter option is far cheaper than the ‘Tradeplace Option’ if the tech spec info is added (as with Bosch/Neff/Siemens products) it may be of far greater value overall and a possible consideration….?

I will wait (as Ken hints) for the New Year before rushing headlong into a decision that may be yet another drain on finances overall. 🙄
