    Re: Weird screws

No chance GB finding the tool from those guys I’m afraid 🙁

What your mate has is (and I don’t know the actual name of the head) a common fitting used in COMMERCIAL LIGHTING ONLY!!!

Local Council employees that fix these may have one in their toolkit?

Best use a slotted screwdriver (like the LUX one) to sort it I reckon 💡

Re: Hotpoint WD72P selector buttons not functioning

Most likely the problem is caused by a water leak splashing onto the electrics (hole in door seal or chipped drum plate?).

Take a close look at the programme module for dried splash marks. ❗ Often all you need is a bit of switch cleaner or WD40 to spray on and wipe away (especially the legs of the tiny IC prog chip) 😉

    Re: Bosch WFX2868GB Water Ingress

Whilst washman’s reply does cover the manufacturers stance on guarantees correctly. I am intrigued as to this case and the servicemans eventual diagnosis? 😕

Now this model’s electrics are fully protected from any outside leak sources (including blocked or overflowing drains. The baseplate though not waterproof will not allow splashing water to penetrate at all!

The main electrics are behind the fascia panel and as well away from floods as you can get (lest of course you are located in downtown New Orleans? 🙁 )

If the drain was blocked and overflowing enough to ingress your machine and blow its electrics and stuff, I am sure by that time you would have donned your waders and waterproofs long before it went bang!

Second opinion time, and I would suggest you speak with their ‘Service Manager’ and get another guy along to take a shufty 💡

Please let us know the outcome 😀

Just try that, then give your landlord a call to get it fixed properly (at his expense no doubt?) 😉

Re: Bosch SGS45E08 leaking to base

    Oh dear!

It appears you have got the cord out of the tensioner pulley unit (Part No 165298) somehow 😕

You will be able to check its fixing by looking at the other door spring unit, but it does look as though you have broken the base snap-in fixing the tensioner sits in 🙁

Basically the cord goes around the tensioner in a kind of ‘S’ shaped configuration and the other end of the cord hooks into the spring (situated in the baseplate and anchored at the back)

Good news about the leak then but the door spring could be a bit of a bug to sort? Replacement ‘Tensioner’ includes the cord of course and is available via this link: http://www.bshappliancecare.co.uk

Re: Siemens dishwasher pump won’t stop – ideas?

The internal base of the machine is flooded due to an internal leak somewhere. The subject covered time and time again in these forums and best read about with reference to Bosch machines (the same).

I recommend a local engineer to sort it for you, in which case click on this link for one :- Repairs@

    Re: thermostat installation Question

    It hasn’t got a Thermostat!

It does however have an NTC fitted into the Heater boss. That is effectively the ‘electronic thermostat’ and usually is very reliable. It is held in place simple by compression. I wonder why you ask anyway? What really is the problem???

    Ya see!

Direct proof if proof were needed that Connect (Electrue) actually read these forums 😀

Sure enough the price has come down on their site since my original posting…..WELL DONE CONNECT! 🙂

Now let me see if I can find any other glaring anomalies……. 😉

    Re: NEFF B1430KOGB

Your small Neff oven is usually fed with 13amp cable and a 13 amp plug. Therefore the wires are Yellow/Green to Earth, Brown to Live and Blue to Neutral. The termials on the back panel of the oven or its connector block will indicate “E” “L” and “N” accordingly.

If however you are using 30 amp cooker cable fed from a ‘Cooker Switchbox’ on the wall. The wiring is very different and care needs to be applied in the conversion. I would recommend calling in an expert electrician to solve that problem. Nonetheless cooker cable is usually Red = L Black = N and the unshielded copper wire being the E.

Whatever you decide DO PLEASE SWITCH OFF THE MAINS SUPPLY FIRST OK? :zap:

That clinches it then as I said before…it’s a voltage thing. 😥

Take the machine to the dump, on the way back drop into Sears and buy a Maytag 😉

Turn it back on again and it should ‘buzz’ for around 30 seconds then fill and carry on as normal?
If it doesn’t then try a local independent repairer to see what the problem is: Repairs@
