THE first thing we in the repair business would check its earth insulation. More washer dryers suffer from earth leaks and the dryer element is the usual cause. Especially so if you don’t use the dryer much.
Earth leaks affect the electronics resulting in the machines erratic behaviour such as postees in this thread describe.
So start by checking the heater. If you are none the wiser then call out a local independent repairer who can sort it for you. 😀

As you know the error E03 relates to drain time-out. So as long as you know that that is not the case then you have a very slight earth leak somewhere.
Firstly, have you tested for earth leaks? If your megohm reading is less that 100 then that’s your problem.

That’s why it is important to test before, during and after the repair is carried out. As stated in paragraph 2 (page 1) of my publication. 😉
Basic procedures that speed up diagnosis, repair time and cost.

ParticipantRe: appliance fires
I personally wouldn’t regard anyone being made aware of potential fire hazard products by the fire service, media or politicians as “suckers” TBH. The sooner the public are made aware of the dangers by anyone the better.

A point which no one seems to be addressing.A bit harsh Steve, Ken and his website have been banging on about it for years 😉 and I’m sure you, as have I, lectured our customers over their misdeeds endlessly.
But as Ken knows I always believed and maintained that appliance manufacturers should make their products bomb proof in the first place. British and EU safety standards are to blame there, ask the LFB !
Front runner in all this, and the gold medal winner is without doubt Whirlpool. Proud manufacturer of the most dangerous tumble dryer you could ever wish to own. Stir in customer misuse and :fire:

Yes 0.1 to 0.5 ? between the plugtop earth pin and machine cabinet is fine. 😀

I’m delighted to hear you solved the problem pmb and I get where you’re coming from regarding experience. But experience is primarily gained by applying the basic procedures toward initial fault finding from the start.
You no doubt quickly found this fault using a basic insulation test procedures the moment you clapped eyes on the machine. And your post intended to direct others into doing just that.
So a good moment for me to direct others into realising the benefits of such fault finding techniques by providing a useful link below. I wrote the article years ago and it features a basic analogue insulation tester. Many of you opt for the digital equivalent, which is the preferred tool these days, but hey I’m old school. 😕

ParticipantRe: qualtex "out of stock"
Many pattern spares are manufactured in the EU. So could it be GBP against the Euro causing the stock shortages?

ParticipantRe: Lowest vibration washing machine
LG have a bad history of vibration so I hardly think that a good choice TBH. My Siemens machine is very stable, hasn’t moved at all since I slid it in position and adjusted the feet 3 years ago. Mind you it sits on a solid floor. If it were upstairs in your house and under those conditions all your pictures would shake off the wall at the very least.
Time for a rethink on location I would suggest 😀

ParticipantRe: Ideal HE30 Boiler with LF fault
It’s more than a simple ignition fault I suspect. Having to drain the water suggests a condensate drainage issue, frozen pipe outside maybe? Have you checked the user manual I wonder?
Here’s a copy……

ParticipantRe: tl61
You couldn’t come across a more basic dryer than a TL61 and I suspect you are correct in not suspecting the motor. It’s more likely the timer, the capacitor OR the wiring to and from.
By the way, should post this stuff in Trade Tech reall. Perhaps a kind mod will move it for you? 😀
