Re: Weird filling issue and smell!

I suspect the inlet valve is allowing the water to fill the machine (in spite of the fact that you think the water is shut off?)

(Those little blue levered stopcocks are natorious for not shutting off when you think they are!)

Try taking the water inlet hoses off the machine and then use the sink to see if the water from the sink flows back into your machine. Judging by your graphic I doubt that very much as water does not flow uphill 🙁

Oh! And indeed the outlet hose from your machine should have an ‘air gap’ at the point where it hooks into the waste outlet pipe, as clivejameson mentioned earlier 🙂

It is very common for waste pipe from washing machine to line the inside of wastepipes with a build-up of soap deposits and limescale.(Thick grey gunge- YUK!) Especially if the ‘fall’ from washing machine to sink/drain outlet is shallow. Clothing fibres add to the problem and restrict the flow so badly it backs up and overflows the top of the waste system!

You will need to remove and clean the ‘U’ Trap and possibly rod clear the pipework towards the outlet to clear this debris effectively. Mr Muscle Drain Clearing solution or similar products do not do the job as effectively 🙁

So another 100 Bit control Module required over there then 🙁

If it’s under 5 years old the parts are likely covered by Hotpoints standard 5 year guarantee. You will need to call Hotpoint to confirm. They charge around £90 in labour to fit it for you. (A saving of around £90 overall)

    Colin,

I would seriously suggest you call in a local independent engineer to sort the problem for you and service the machine whilst he is there. Several components need careful inspection and electrically testing in order to rectify this fault. We do not condone DIY repairs for obvious safety and liability reasons I’m sure you will appreciate.

The repair cost will be economically viable on such a quality product with years of good service ahead of it! 🙂

In order to establish if the belt is broken you only need to switch the machine on. If the motor is running normally and the heater is heating, but the drum isn’t turning, the belt is broken.

To replace said belt the machine has to be dismantled, to access any of the functional parts, likewise it has to come to bits to rectify 🙁

If your machine is intended to fit in between todays modern (MDF constructed) type kitchen furniture, then it is a simple exercise to adjust the cupboard units to make it fit nicely 😀

Most cupboard side panels can easily be removed, shelving shortened slightly and the side panel replaced to give you that extra centimetre or more you require to slide it in. 😉

Contact your local friendly chippy (carpenter/joiner) if the DIY challenge appears too daunting ❗

Most likely the Defrost Heater (Part No: 2115356004) is not operating then I guess.

A total defrosting is called for I reckon, then switch back on and carefully check the state of the evaporator from time to time. If ice continues to build up with no sign of any defrosting taking place, then a new Heater will need to be fitted.

Dave, cm emailed me over this earlier today. Unfortuneatly Indesit want £11 to supply a copy of said User Instruction Booklet for this model and we both agreed they were having a laugh at the insanity of that. 👿

Therefore I suggested cm ask to ‘loan’ a copy that perhaps someone may have so that it can be photocopied 💡

Well you nearly got is correct that time, It’s actually an S4340X0GB/20, that’s why I couldn’t find it listed 🙂

Hard to say in fact what’s likely to have happened though in this case? Has the machine drained off all the water? Is the filters and especially the bottom of the sump clear of debris to allow the pump to drain?

If the programmer is stuck mid-cycle, try pressing the 2nd programme button and the 6th at the same time. That should allow the timer to skip to the end after a few short moments. Then try it again (assuming you’ve since cleaned the sump that is!

Any more specific detail from you would be appreciated 😀

Re: Indesit W12s UK Door Seal

The inner drum is secured by a four-legged spigot/bearing housing. Which, once the drum pulley is removed, is attached to the outer drum with 8 Torz Headed bolts.

The Door seal does not need touching in order to access the main drum bearings though 😉
