ParticipantRe: British Gas…time to tell all
Some tosser of a British Gas engineer called to replace the Door Seal on a Zanussi FLS1225W to one of their ‘Homecare’ customers in the Reading 6 weeks ago. He took the old seal off right enough but then try as he might he couldn’t fit the new one. He came back twice once with his ‘supervisor’ and together both of them could not fit the door seal 👿
The customer was well pissed off by that time as they had made 3 calls over a 2 week period but still they could not get it back on. She asked them to leave and promptly phoned her husband at work. He found the UKW website speak on BG Homecare and got my name through reading its many pages. He emailed me for my advise and I promptly ordered a door seal and went out today to fit it.
They have made a right dogs dinner of trying to fit their door seal as there were screwdriver grooves in the front drum half where they tried ‘levering it on’. Also they threw away the wash pump inlet pipe hose clamps, so I fitted jubilee clips in their place. I asked if they had used any washing-up liquid to ease it on and the customer said no! :rotfl:
Needless to say when I got there the customer was a little cautious on my arrival, but when I asked for the washing up liquid then fitted the seal in roughly about 15mins total (lousy job I must admit but…) she was gobsmacked!!!!!!

Dr M,
It’s a minefield out there brand wise as you have discovered. But you search for a reliable tumble dryer need not be so exhaustive really. Go for a mid range popular brand product that fits in with your other kitchen appliances is the best idea 😀
A tumble dryer no matter who makes it is, is just a tin box with a tin drum a belt and heating element. Nothing too much to worry over at all. As a full indemnity against breakdowns take out an extended warranty 😉
Bosch/Siemens range are my personal recommendation

Dave_r,
More information required please. Does the machine pump all the water out? Are the filters and sump clear of debris? Will the machine drain then fill with water and start to wash?
Whatever extra info you can give us will help, ‘cos remember, we cannot see your machine from here 😉

Have you got a model number you can give us Ray?
I believe these ‘hydro sensors’ are tacked onto the heater box anyway if I’m not mistaken? I would imagine Bosch engineers would replace the whole heater unit with sensor unit and be done especially if its crudded up with limescale thru not using salt?

ParticipantRe: Salty cups
Do check carefully the Salt Container Screw Cap 😉 .
Remove and clean its rubber gasket, screw the cap back in place but do not overtighten. Set your machine just to do a ‘Pre-rinse’ cycle as that will flush away any excess salt residue. Hopefully problem solved thereafter 8)

PJ,
Most likely it is associated with a Heater fault or Heater Relay on the Main Circuit Board. Best get an engineer in to check it out for you….try here……

Bryan,
Having travelled 20 miles or so to the job, you don’t want to simply poke a screwdriver here and there anyway as you will agree
It is (as Dave said) most likely to be a Thermostat problem, either heater box stats or the exhaust in the drum surround 😉 In fairness to Funkyboogy and in partial agreement to his comments, you will need to check out the float switch, firstly by trying the drain plug, to see if it is clear AND that just a little water drains from it. (If it floods out then a complete strip down of the float unit the only cure).
If you were to spend half an hour on site, that would give you chance anyway to take it all apart, clean it, replace all the stats, and away, job done at a bargain price with no recall! 😀

Oh dear funkyboogy!
No! No!….don’t waste your time by doing that, besides why?
If that were the problem and to do it properly you need to lift the drum out anyway. The “long screwdriver” can be well avoided simply by flushing out the drain plug at the back 😉
Dodgy diagnosis there my BG friend 😡

Seamy,
Use all your experience on this one mate, they are a piece of cake Creda machines with a Hotpoint badge….no worries!, she’s probably not checked the spray arms and not used salt in it anyway

As the law stands that is spot on correct

But in Charlottes position and/or that of a certain Whirlpool Employee who obtained said appliance, could easily end in tears if they rock the boat too much 😉
My advice is: – It’s working now, and thanks to WHIRLPOOL there’s no problem so don’t make any more. Besides, you probably bought it for less than half its expected retail price anyway ❓

Yes we know 🙁 Unfortunately Hotpoint stopped fitting an ‘in-line’ fuse link between motor and control module way back in 1996 and the demise of the then WD43P…..those were the days eh?

Charlotte,
I fully understand your concern over your Whirlpool machine and the problems you are experiencing. However, Whirlpool have corrected the faults on your machine within the terms of the warranty. It is therefore their option to repair (or replace) the machine as they deem fit and not an option for you to declare against the manufacturer.
However, the ultimate responsibility for your appliances well being rests squarely in the lap of the ‘supplying dealer’ you bought it from in the first place and NOT the manufacturers. If you take it up with them and you wish to try and get a replacement machine, they and only they make that decision.
But please, before taking that route, see how your machine works now a while OK?…It may well do all you ask of it now and for years to come 😀

ParticipantRe: Washing machine Bosch WFP32 error code F05
Jonas,
The fault is due to the motor brushes being worn out. Depending on the exact model (Enr & FD numbers) we could supply you with a Motor End Housing (usually 096331) or the Brushes to suit. (Not sure if you are in the UK though as you speak of “Euros” funny money 😆 )
