I’m not sure what point you guys are trying to make here by comparing the price variations between wholesalers 😕 A pair of brushes retailing at under £30 ai’nt all bad, in fact quite the opposite, a nice little earner. 😀

Remember the old saying about not looking the gifthorse…etc but instead make hay while the sun shines :lesson:

Lets hope we have to all buy loads of them to keep up with the demand eh? :rotfl:

    der,

Merloni could offer a good deal to many who are able to put up with the workload. Very often 10 calls a day (minimum) and if you fail to complete any of those, you will get another 10 tomorrow on top. Day in day out the pressure is on.

Job satisfaction is guaranteed but only for workaholics wanting to work from dawn til dusk. No rewards for slackers, I hope you have got what it takes my friend…Good luck!

    Simon,

3 things to check in this case that can lead to dryer errors, Firstly the condenser ducting getting blocked at the bottom by the hose connection to the tub. Or, the quad valve open circuit(no water flow) and finally the TOC tripping 😉

Re: new w/m – which to choose

The AEG Lavamat 62600 is indeed a German made AEG and if still available from retailers is a good alternative to BOSCH. I suspect as Ken comments, all future AEG badged machines will be a Zanussi in disguise 🙁

On the other hand if you choose BOSCH and the price tag is above £250, then it’s the real thing and worth the expense 😀

Thanks for that, now I realise what the problem is with your machine 8) It is simply blocked, but it will need an engineer in to do that for you AND is not an expensive thing to sort 🙂

Simply go to “Repairs@” and fill in the drop down forms to get a local engineer to quote you for fixing it……..EASY!

Ah! but I’m one of the lucky few that has a Hotpoint WMA Service Manual (rarer than hens teeth these days 😆 ) AND in that manual it states: “May 2001 (from Date Code 89) Siemens(Bosch) Motor introduced on production as an alternative to FHP & CESET Motors!”

    Keith,

It sounds like the BOSCH motor fitted to your machine. What is the date code as that will tell straight away? The Bosch motor brushes (Part No: 1604462) can easily be identified as thay are held in place by a double ended spade terminal fixing that just slips in and out of the holder when you turn it sideways 🙂

    toadhall,

    That’s good news then 😀

I would asked the engineer when he calls to carefully inspect the DRUM SHAFT for any damage. I suspect that the shaft will indeed be damaged and therefore in need of replacement. In order that is done though it will need a COMPLETE TUB & DRUM UNIT and not just the bearings replacing 🙁 Otherwise it’s likely to fail again in a few months time 😕

    Chilli,

You haven’t given us enough information here I’m afraid 🙁

What is the model number? Having cleared up the mess it has left, have you checked that the filter is clear? Is the drain outlet blocked?Does it work at all now? Has the fuse blown?

Wow! that takes me back, oh what fun getting the tripod off just to replace the bellows seal below. Butane blow torch, 3 claw extractor, blast away for a while then turn and hope it comes off??????????

Let me know Lawrence if you need the drum support, seal and bellows below that lot before I bin my stock holding 🙂

    Re: ariston margherita A1535 noisy

Unless you have an extended guarantee then you’re in for a big repair bill I’m afraid 🙁

With rust getting on the clothes usually means the machine will not only need a new Drum Bearing & Seal Kit but it may well be beyond even that quick fix and need a complete new Drum Unit. The former option will cost possibly a tad under £100 to sort. The latter I’m afraid would be uneconomical to even consider 😥
