ParticipantRe: Washing machine leaking
The drum seal is the gasket that seals the two tubs halves together. Which, in my experience as well as Andy, can leak. 😉

Another case of ‘techno sparing’ 😀

How odd that nobody enquired as to the make in question?

I’ve been wondering, with all the spare parts available for ‘white goods’, why it doesn’t seem possible to buy new replacement front panels…or is it?Why didn’t you look on Hotpoint’s own web site I wonder?
For your convenience please see the link below but beware, it is pricey so your girlfriend might want to contribute. 😉

ParticipantRe: Trade job sites – Trustedtrader / Rated people
You’re already paying big money to Checkatrade THE most popular of all trade referral services Andy. Rated People doesn’t even have a category for white goods repairers which shows what little they know.
Better still, register with Trading Standards under their Buy With Confidence scheme. Go for it!

I’ve no clue what you mean by thick brown? Looking at the BSH parts schematic which part do you mean?

Apparently their is no better way to judge than by independent, impartial testing. Which? did a survey a year or three ago on both powder and liquid detergents. Their findings quite surprising. Out on top was Ariel Bio with Actilift, followed closely in 2nd place by Persil Bio. Coming in on the rails in 3rd place was Aldi’s own brand Almat.
I enclose a copy of that survey to share with you. Apologies it’s a bit fuzzy but it’s been washed up on this web site a few times. 😉

ParticipantRe: Is my card reader faulty
If the new card reader is both 8 & 32 then they wouldn’t necessarily need to change the part number. But you’d need to order one in order to find out. 😉

Depends on whether it is a Sole, Ceset or ACC brand motor that’s fitted. See Hoover website ……

That .pdf file spells it out and a responsible landlord would never attempt messing with that hinged lid otherwise, as johnmac11 says, the annual inspection will pick it up.
I looked up many other brands of slot in gas cookers and all feature the glass top. Many have similar height/size specs. So, time to modify that cupboard is the best most effective solution.

Two options : smash the glass or remove hinge and short out the lid microswitch. All of the above I hasten to add I would NOT recommend. But you did ask. 🙁

True enough Bryan. The whole issue beggars belief that the lid would have been removed in the first place. An altogether reckless act. The guys “managing agent” needs to get the “installer” to reverse the cock up and refit the lid as per the correct specification and concentrate instead on facilitating the surrounding cupboard that interferes with the glass lid. Better still, buy a gas cooker without a glass lid.

Anything above 50 quid and most landlords would appreciate an honest BER report on a shite product such as Indesit. Give it up, you ain’t gonna win!
