It means that the drain out time has exceeded (timed-out). You need to check the pump filter, pump, drain inlet/outlet hose (in that order) to find the cause. šŸ˜€

I’m curious to know how you solve it just by buying a wet vac? Opening the door floods the flat and all below it and releasing the filter causes likewise trauma.

It could be heating element problems. I wonder if James could enlighten us with the model number of his machine as that may help?

Oh! And just to clarify his take on ā€œloading & unloadingā€? Does he mean ā€˜filling then draining?’

Judging by those images a thorough inspection and electrical safety testing throughout is the next step. A prudent move would be to seek the help of a local independent repairer to take a look for you.

Main connection failure between wall switch and oven unit by the sounds of it. Time to drag out the oven and check power cable terminal block at the back me thinks.

Dryer heating element failure. Check it out, power off first though.

Re: Cleaning heat pump heat ex/finny thingy

Judging by the symptoms it requires more surgery than poking bits of wire through the evaporator fins TBH. The circulation fan at the back is probably blocked to hell with fluff too. That needs removing and cleaning and with it removed and the dryer taken outside the evaporator can be jet washed or just flushed with the garden hose.
( taking great care to protect the electrics obviously).

Once thoroughly cleaned and reassembled it should work fine thereafter. Though more frequent cleaning of the evaporator filter would be advisedable as well as cleaning the fluff filter after every load.

As for the black mould, wine vinegar should shift it with a bit of added elbow grease. Once cleaned ensure you leave the dryer door and the water container drawer slightly ajar when not in use. The room where the dryer is located needs good ventilation (essential for any condenser dryer for obvious reasons of mould prevention in damp warm environments)

Condenser dryers are such a high maintenance pain, they really are šŸ™

Re: Views on reducing VAT on repairing white goods

Scrapping VAT on repairs will have no effect whatsoever toward the viability of repairs over replacement. Labour costs alone have exceeded the practicality of repairing appliances. Coupled with the rising cost of manufacturing, distribution and storage of spare parts, making repairs uneconomical from the outset.

If VAT was ever scrapped or reduced on white goods then other service industries would demand the same. The government’s coffers would need immediate recompense and general taxes would rise as a direct consequence.

Consumerism rules, cheap goods abound, demand for more continues apace.

The seal lip was cut by dragged clothes (especially zips not done up Total). Check the first photo and the answer is clearly obvious why it happened. User abuse, case closed šŸ˜‰
