Avoid stainless as they always look yucky with fingers marks. Most on here shout the praises of Liebherr by the way 😉

Oh dear, from the sublime Bosch to the rediculous Samsung. You really are confused aren’t you? Avoid Samsung white goods, mind you they do make decent electronic goods, their TV’s and PC monitors especially.

Don’t buy the part! Instead, remove the board (take photos of the connections so you don’t cross wires putting it back 😉 ) then carefully inspect the board for damage. If it has ‘blown’ again don’t buy a new one as you will need to determine what caused it to fail. Was it the motor? The door lock? Heater perhaps? Or just simply a surface component failure on the PCB?A lot to determine first before you “….buy the part!” 😀

……I do so agree but Micky is on the Emerald Isle. A kind, caring, generous breed of people that have strong community ties, an endearing love for their fellow man in a true Christian spirit. In short Micky is an old softy with a heart of gold. Short of money mind you but well for the guy.
Over here in the Home Counties, in this proud but corrupt and rotten land, we are heartless money grabbing opportunists. A world away and more you could say. 😉

ParticipantRe: New Washing Machine – Recommendations?
What is all this hang up over having access to change the bearings when they fail or not being able to? By the time the bearings are shot on the current series of Bosch machines it is time to replace the whole machine. Other components will be just as clapped out too, having completed 1000’s of duty cycles, such as the drum shaft, the motor, the door seal, pump and the heater.
Bosch/Siemens like most of their competitors are switching to sealed drum units. Pretty soon ALL washing machines will be made this way. Manufacturers refer to sealed drum technology as being ‘built for life’ and once that life has ended it is time for it to be ‘recycled’. They are clever enough to ensure that that is the ONLY choice open to anyone because the price the cost of a replacement sealed unit is prohibitive in the extreme. Storage and transportation costs, labour charges and VAT see to that.
The future is clear, when your washing machine packs up you buy a new one. 😉

I meant exactly what I said. I don’t believe the story ends here. That’s not to say I don’t think the module has resolved the problem, it may well have, for now at least. You may believe so and I for one hope that is the case. But my gut feeling suspects otherwise and time, only time, will tell…that’s all CHRISX. I wish you and your fridge well. Bye for now! 😀

ParticipantRe: 10 days left!
It’s the first time I can recall the EU has enforced such an order. It will have a knock on effect toward the appliance manufacturing business. The days of bigger, faster, more powerful, have been well and truly nipped in the bud.
The next generation of vacs will be far more efficient as a result. It is hoped that in the not too distant they will figure that the modern washing machine and tumble dryer draw too much energy with their 2 to 3 hour basic wash cycles. And that frost free fridge freezers have running cycles far too long based on their inability to perform. 2kw Infra-red oven elements will be banned and low energy glass/ceramic elements take over.
Who knows what next, we can only imagine. 🙁

Whoa! Let’s not get too carried here. We all get well wound up when, after all our attempts on getting paid for work done. After all the bull shoosh promises by our customer to put the cheque in the post. The County Court judgements in our favour. In spite of the seemingly trivial amounts of money owed us and the exhaustive legals means adopted in the attempt to secure the money. We still are well out of pocket and are frustrated beyond measure to a point where desperation kicks in.
We all have seen (on TV) where County Court Bailiffs get Court Orders to evict tenants or obtain ‘goods to the value of’. They have the advantage of ramping up their fees to over their costs to enforce the order. But the poor lowly engineer wanting his 100 quid is ignored by the system and so forced either to accept the loss or resort to lawless actions such as this.
I congratulate Mark for his inspired result, illegal though it was. So so very many times have I been so incensed by, in spite of CCJ’s awarded in my favour, I have been the looser. It is a sickening feeling and the law is an ass.:(

Phew! Or better still to really express our emotions I refer you to the famous quote by Charles M Duke Jr speaking from ‘Mission Control in Houston Texas’ during the Apollo 11 moon landing………. …..”you’ve got a bunch of guys here about to turn blue!”
BUT, I have to tell you, I’m not holding my breath over this. I feel this ‘story’ will continue. We haven’t heard the last of this………… 😉

But as Bob explained, it is NOT your place to dispose of customers own parts. Be they fridge doors, sealed drums, backplates, cabinets or whatever. They don’t belong to you or the company you work for so leave them with the customer (or tenant if it’s a flat)…..their problem!
Edit: or the cardboard box and polystyrene packaging. Leave it all……their problem!

Brilliant idea Mark. Perhaps you could advise a suitable ‘standard’ text we could adopt and try in cases like this?
