I was hoping for more direct evidence that the control module was at fault, but the symptoms still point toward it being so. 😕

If you select spin only will the drum turn? If not then the motor brushes need replacing.

It could be: Hold start button, turn to 1st position on selector, release start button, turn to off. Possibly?

I can’t rule out a faulty control board after all it is easy to blame. But I yet haven’t had enough proof that the heater is faulty?

I have to admit I’ve never come across such a problem. And in answer to you I can only think it must be part of the plastic base. I’ve never looked that closely towards how it fits other than it snaps into place, somehow?

I’ve no clue what you mean by “springy bits?” though the spray arm (part no. 00369656) comes complete. Whatever part you refer to can be found by visiting the Bosch web site……see link below….then look at the exploded views

The earth insulation potential of the heater you need to check. In the trade we use a 500DCv insulation tester as a matter of course to quickly eliminate when fault finding in cases like this. Any earth leak on any component can cause the electronics to shut down or do random things. So we check motor and heater first of all. A multimeter isn’t usually sufficient in testing earth potential hence why we use a Megger.

Well it needs investigation first. Maybe a capacitor on the board is failing or the power pins arcing? Dunno, what I do know is that a replacement board costs £110 and to get the right one you will need the full model number before locating the part you need via this link…..

Check out the heater, it may have an earth leak.
