The drums are quite thin and the front edge can ‘shred’ if something/foreign object gets trapped between the front bearing plate and drum . It would normally be classed as accidental damage.

Are you talking about the motor/sump seal that is doughnut shaped ? I have had a good few leaks on these recently and seems to be , 9 times out of 10 , appliances that are rarely used ! No idea why this might be though ?

So the heat exchanger fills fully and then spills over into the pressure chamber . Does it then operate the pressure switch ? If it does , but then doesn’t dump the rest of the water from the heat exchanger into the sump , I’d still be looking at and checking the outlet valve on the water softener .

    Re: Siemens WT46W56CGB/09 keeps stopping

I would expect there to be something showing/flashing on the display/leds when it stops . Could be a blocked drain pump or hose/no heat/blocked door filter….the list is quite long so a bit more information is required I think .

Does the heat exchanger actually fully fill at the start of the cycle ?
I’ve had faulty outlet valves cause problems where the water gets directed into the sump straight away rather than filling the heat exchanger .

Sounds like impeller/flow rate meter. There are 2 types. The usual one – 424099 – is a circular shape but there is one that is fitted on some Siemens models that looks like a vertical tube and is connected directly to the bottom of the inlet matrix.

I’ve had a broken ‘plug’ on the actual drawer . Easy enough to take the drawer out IIRC to check . Certainly sounds llike a lack of connection at rear.

Plenty of water but what about the motor ? Could the impellor be partially blocked and causing low circulating pressure ?

What Martin is saying is put the machine on the hotter cycle at 199 mins and let it complete that cycle…..if you’ve cleared the fault the times should then reset to normal !

Did you check the sump hose/pressure chamber for blockages ? Had that a good few times . Sounds like the machine thinks its still full of water .

    Re: Siemens WM16S796GB/03

Not quite accurate . This model doesn’t have the tabs on the rear tub . It has screws going in from both sides to hold the two halves together. It may also have the full pulley on the rear so you will probably need a 24mm socket. Its also recommended to tighten to 75nm of torque on refitting .

As an aside , we never replace bearings separately , only full rear tubs and if you do this remember that the heater is sited in the rear tub and that you will need to swap over the heater bracket.

E:06 ? If the new pump doesn’t work , check You haven’t disturbed or damaged the pressure hose after taking off the front plate .
