You put 3 and 3 on – if they level out , you know the heavier one must be in the last 3 — you then put 1 and 1 on , out of the last 3 – if they level out , you know the one remaining ball is heaviest – If they don’t level out then the heavier ball will show .

If on the initial weigh , if the heavier ball is there , it will cause that side to be lower . You then take the 3 balls from the heavier side and carry out the same weighing action as above…is that right ?

Did you take out an extended warranty on the appliance ? Some insurances that have accidental damage start the accidental damage cover from the date of purchase .

If it has a grey plastic base then its a little bit more difficult to access the pump yourself .

I just went off and had (very gentle) probe with a bit of kitchen roll and a cocktail stick and it looks like that could indeed have been the problem. Water above the drainage hole drained immediately and it looks like there was some murky gunk down there. Would that be enough, do you think or is there a means of giving it a better clean out?

You could use a cotton bud dipped in a bit of diluted bleach – The ‘gunk’ was probably a little bit of bacteria build-up. If the drain hole is deep , a cosmetic cotton bud , which i believe are longer , may be of use .

Oh happy days indeed….apart from the Man Utd win 😉 I’d like to see France win , as i’d prefer them in the semi but i think the Kiwi’s will win tonight .

And a Chelsea win at Bolton would round off the weekend for me 😀

I’ve had a couple of these recently – The edge of the belt frays and then catches on the mator shaft. This causes the belt to then wrap itself round the shaft , ripping it off the pulley.
The belt on these are normally really tight and you have to be wary of the edges of the cut-out at the back . I cable tie the belt onto the pulley to keep it on as you need to really give them some ‘teddy’ on the pulley to get the belt round and it saves having to worry about tyhe belt slipping off.
I don’t like these appliances . They don’t really ramp up , spin wise , seemingly going from 50rpm to almost full speed in the blink of an eye

    Re: Bosch motor removal

You just need to ease the motor off the hang-points . I slip a big flat bladed screwdriver into the space between the motor support and motor and twist it to give the motor a tweak….the washers stay as part of the motor and so stay with it when you take the motor off.

Just to back up oldtog , its likely to be low water levels caused by the blocked pressure chamber/hose.
Just remember that the appliance may save the wash time from the previous cycle so it may start the first cycle after you’ve done the work on 199mins……let it run through a full cycle to see if the time comes down.

I’ve seen this on a new development where they had communal pipework for the extractor hoods. All the fans had been removed as they weren’t required.

Re: Bosch Upright Freezer with temperature problems

have you tried defrosting it for 48 hrs and then switching it back on again ? If you look behind the grill at the top of the freezer compartment ( use a torch to look through the slats ) , can you see it all iced up ?
The door being left open for a shorttime can cause the evaporator to slowly ice up and will cause temp probs . A complete defrost will , in most cases , clear the prob .

Its worth trying it before you just dump the appliance .

Probably just the hinges required but as Mr G says , full model number required before spare part numbers can be established

Did you use genuine Bosch brushes or patent parts ? I have had a couple of occasions where new patent brushes have caused probs but the genuine Bosch ones work fine .

It might be worth running a couple of ‘spin only’ cycles to help the brushes bed in .

Or you could remove and re-fit the brushes in case they’re not seated properly.
