ParticipantJon,
The reading through the safety fuse should be near as spit 0 ohms. If you are reading 30-40 ohms, you are getting a back reading through the heater circuit and the fuse will have failed. Please clarify and more help will doubtless follow.

ParticipantLook, it’s about soap powder, the ionics variously react with surficants. Mrs P, who is a biologist and chemist says the theory looks good, but the practicalities are basically a large collection of spherical objects! What is more important is to warm everything up and then beat hell out of them.
Let’s face it, we managed for a thousand years by going down to the river and slapping things against a rock. Not a lot has really changed.

ParticipantSmall point chaps, I trust that you have told your assorted colleagues that these unfavourable customers shouldn’t be serviced because they are never in and timewasters? Because you are not allowed to pass on a blacklist based on debt……….
Be careful. I’ve only got one significant bad debt, and he can’t get ANYTHING fixed at a sensible price. Funny that……

ParticipantTawny,
Door inner complete is p/no 4819 442 28091, price £37.50 + VAT + P&P. You can order via the shop@ facility on UKW. Touch and go for Christmas though.
OR –
Get a tube of high temperature silicone sealant from the shop, strip the door and rebond the glass. All old sealant must be removed and the mating surfaces thoroughly degreased. Apply lots of sealant, sit the glass on and leave alone for 24 hours.AND – don’t put the turkey on the door to baste it!

ParticipantCheck for water marks on motor and centre seal of tub. There are regular leak problems and the motor is in exactly the right place to collect the water. This will blow the board as Clive suggests.

ParticipantGo with separates if you can, a much better bet.
If you have to have a combi the basic rule these days is you WILL get what you pay for. Zanussi is perfectly adequate (despite your experience), Bosch is better and Meile is the bees knees.
Good luck,

Participant‘swot it said on TDS – p/sw problems. Still, we ALL know what these digital machines are like, don’t we?

ParticipantPoint is Martin, it’s pretty apparent you don’t agree with the suggested course of action, and we are supposed to try and do this by consencus… you are the stumbling bock on this one at present.

ParticipantAnd stop the punters killing themselves…….
Personally, I’ve never had a problem with electric shocks, it’s all the screaming I can’t stand
!Just occasionally you need to step in where something is wrong/dangerously wrong/abusive/product placement/ mad; well you get the idea.
Occasionally you’ll need to exert a bit of influence – it becomes clear very quickly those who have any technical ability and those who need an engineer. Point the rest at the Shop@ bit and UKW will make a few bob, which has got to be good! We still have relatively “unknown” or new members posting to the public and they tend to be the ones that need watching.
All common sense in the end.
Cheers,
Chris.PS – Yes I KNOW I sent the Hoover tumble dryer man on a wild goose chase for a microtemp – he SHOULD have bought the heater in the Shop!

ParticipantSi,
I’ve listed off all four of the parts relating to the knob assembly – as far as the TDS system is concerned they all appear to be valid part numbers.Perhaps Dave C or one of the Service force lads could double check for you in the morning?
You now know as much as I do!

ParticipantFilling problem if I recall correctly – do the obvious and check for water supply, other than that it’s internal and you will probably need professiomal help.
Check the Directories section for a UKW engineer in your area, or pop up your post code in here and someone will pick up on it.
Whatever youdo, pull the plug first……..

ParticipantIt’s a microtemp – I think you can source them through Radio Spares (RS Components). The temperature rating is usually printed on it somewhere (microscopically of course!).
