OK…….. It’s called “cost engineering”. This is the trick of making an appliance which will last the guarantee period and a few days/weeks/months before a significant failure, depending upon your budget manufacturer. WDK has obviously had the “in-guarantee” experience. For a mere £100, you can have “free parts” (each time you call) for the following 4 years (unless you actually buy the extended warranty they want to ram down your throat when you call in…. :rolls: ). The simple truth is that there is probably not one single part in your machine which costs the Indesit Company more than £20, so it’s still profit, profit, profit. Trouble is, by and large, they’re all at it. The Indesit Company is seen in the Trade as the big bad wolf, as most of us remember “The Old Days” when the machines were simple, repairable and parts were cheap. Even so, the machines weren’t actually that good, but were repairable at an economic price. Now……… they’re not.
WDK has made the first step and realised that a combi washer dryer just isn’t it. Now he needs to make some sensible choices about what to buy when it finally pegs off. You can be sure it won’t be long.
Sorry if that’s a bit brutal, but you will get what you pay for.

Pump will be on the floor of the machine – I’m sorry, but I’ve never seen one here in the UK. Bit of Googling found some pretty pictures – HERE – which will give you a general idea of the layout. Pump looks like it should have a filter trap in it; some sort of twist-off cap. Patience – BSP probably knows 😀 .

Built-ins are a headache – the choice is rather limited. The Hotpoint suggested is an Indesit, which, with a quick Search of this forum will reveal it as a star member of “The Not Very Good Club of Great Britain”; or even Italy. On a budget, Lux group built-ins are adequate, SMEG is better but eccentric (Don’t put one on a wooden floor – the earth will move and not in the way you’d like…..). BSH Group (NEFF/Bosch/Seimens) is your best bet. Dearer, but you will get what you are prepared to pay for.
Don is the expert. Find a few models that might suit and he’ll advise your best pick.

Sounds like a stuck motor to me…….. Capacitor is HERE and is cheap enough.
I would advise dragging it out and having a look underneath before actually ordering.

1st flashing, 5th lit is flood protection activated, however, you say that this was a one-off. It sounds more like you have a problem with the circulation pump – fill should be followed by recirculation. Can you hear a faint humming noise after the fill sequence? The pump is a capacitor start and run device – over time, the capacitor loses its ability to charge and whilst the motor will get power (the hum), it doesn’t get the required delay from the capacitor to start it. Alternatively, the pump could be jammed and unable to turn.
Test on the soak cycle, btw – no heat. Power off if going in to investigate.

Not much else I can tell you, Chicago. I was going purely on the look of the thing – I’ve got no specific info on it at all. Our friends over at http://www.appliancejunk.com may be able to tell you more as they’re on your side of the pond.
Good luck,

All the current Zanussi dryers are pretty well screwed together using the same basic componentsm, so choose the one with the options which suit your needs.

Fully open door. Slacken screws 2 + 4 down each side of the door by two turns. With the door closed, push the outer panel home with one knee and lift the door panel firmly. Open the door and tighten the screws.

Whirring noise will be the motor, which has the fan at one end and the pulley for the belt at the other end, therefore the belt is not connected.
Plug out, put it on its back and remove the access panel on the bottom. Using a torch, you should be able to figure out what has happened – a tension pulley issue, perhaps.

ParticipantRe: soda crystals
Complete tosh, I’m afraid. There are no soda crystals in detergents, either. By far the most economical way to wash is to use a quality powder and pay particular attention to the dosing instructions on the box.
Combined with correct loading and sorting and a monthly service wash (90c and a quality whites detergent), your machine should function at its best.

ParticipantRe: Help with Whirlpool ADG7450
Normally, this would be considered a flood protection issue, but you machine does not seem to have the float mechanism fitted.
Secondly, if the machine faults, it will run the drain pump whilst flashing the start lamp in a pattern, ie 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat. You can clear it by pressing and holding the start button until it stops.
If the drain pump runs regardless of either of the above, there will be a fault on the pcb.
