Mount is about 2 inches long and has 6mm studs each end.

I’ve had a thought 💡 If I push a suitable length of thin walled rubber tube onto the threaded end of the shaft i can insert that through the seal while it’s still visible…..

ParticipantRe: Hpt. WF541P Inlet Valve
Thanks Tim, the valve you mention has the solenoids on the opposite side so they would come under the soap drawer housing but I don’t think that would be a problem. I will check if I’ve got one of those as I have broken up a few Indesits.

Yes, an Indesit type setup. Machine is a welded drum type, quite different to my own older WF540G machine.

It was just the drum shaft that had gone rusty and was stiff to turn in the seal. I cleaned the shaft and inside the seal and greased it but I had a job lining up the shaft with the carbon face seal. After about 100 attempts It went in and I tried the machine. It now spins OK but the water pours out from under the machine. One of my failed attempts at centring the shaft in the face seal must have punctured the bellows seal :bang: I’ve never been any good at judging level, squareness, concentricity etc so I hope I don’t do the same trick with the new seal. I might see if i can rig up a mirror on a string that I can position to see the shaft as it goes down. 🙁

When I answer the phone I say, “Hello, Phils Domestics”.
Despite this, probably more than 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of customers reply saying “Is that Phils Domestics?”. I think I might start saying some invented business name like “Goatbusters Abattoir” to see if anyone notices 😆Phidom

Alanj wrote:Hi Guys,
I have a HBOS Business account which qualifies for “free banking” if account is kept in credit to the tune of £5000. Are there any catches like that with Abbey? I grudge all that money lying in a current account making nothing(for me anyway 😥 )Alan
That’s not really free banking as you lose the interest you could otherwise earn on the £5000.

I would check the heater first. By “any other cycle” they might just mean rinse and spin. If its a WM model it may well be a cracked spider.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint CTD00G Door Pin
Had another one of these machines but this time the door would not stay shut. I fitted a new door catch, C00098235 but it still would not shut. I ended up modifying the part on the door as the new catch was a different design to the old one. There was a square depression both sides of the door hook and I cut this out with a Stanley knife to form a square hole. Has anyone else had problems fitting this part?

ParticipantRe: Business Bank Account v Personal Accounts
I do much the same, Mike. I’ve been using my existing Abbey personal accounts ever since I started in 1998. I deposit cheques by machine into my Direct Saver account and hand the cash in at the counter to go in the current account. I pay as many bills as possible with cash so a lot of takings never get to the bank. These days the current account is mainly just used to write cheques for the spares suppliers and debit card transactions for purchases in which use of a credit card would incur additional charges. I would quite like to change the Abbey account into a free business account but don’t want to draw attention to my existing system 😉

Thanks gents, does the spinner drum lift out without removing the plastic surround?

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM Series & FHP Motors
I never understood why they didn’t simply specify the same plug arrangement as on the GEC motor when they introduced the FHP type. Or is the same FHP unit used on other makes of machine? 😕

ParticipantRe: Bearings on a hpt wt721
£60 was never a realistic price for bearing change on a big drum Hotpoint. Also, there was no point stripping it, you only need to take the lid off to determine if it’s a welded drum.
