If the drum had worn a hole in the heater it would trip every time it fills up for a wash. If it tends to trip only on heavier loads it sounds more like a motor fault. Any engineer worth his salt would investigate further in any case if he removed a heater that had been cut by the drum.

You might be lucky and find that a new door switch/interlock cures the problem but in many cases the faulty door switch also does damage to the circuit board.

First check if you are getting 240 volts at the transformer primary. If you are then you still have a fault in the microwave circuit. Even if the other functions work it could still be a faulty door microswitch. These switches usually come apart so I tend to take the cover off each switch and check for burnt or welded contacts. Obviously you check that all the switches are being depressed correctly before and after removing them.

Usually if an interlock goes short circuit it will blow copper strips on the board so you can see visible damage on the back of the PCB. Have you checked for this?

Re: Electrical connection for Lofra range cooker

Sorry, just looked up the spec. of this appliance and it has both a gas and an electric oven so it is effectively a single oven for electrical purposes. The oven elements total less than 3 Kw so it will be a 13 amp supply.

Re: Electrical connection for Lofra range cooker

I don’t know this particular make but the rule of thumb is single electric ovens only need a 13 amp supply but double ovens need to be hard wired. As it is a range cooker I should think it has 2 or more ovens so it will be hard wired with 6mm cable and a 40 amp double pole isolating switch. If you went for an all electric range cooker you would probably need to have 10mm cable.

Re: Hotpoint WMA57 Pumps in water through soap tray after sp

When you had the new pump was this supposed to fix the fault you have described here? If so you have been ripped off, as the filling up has nothing to do with the pump. Washing machines do not pump in water, the water enters under its own pressure through electric valves.

Hotpnt, seed would be easier than new turf, (which also needs watering for the first few weeks anyway). You only need to do it on the bare bits. You might have to choose a more hard wearing grass. I suppose you should be glad the kids do play outside and get some fresh air, most of them these days spend their time glued to some playstation or whatever.

If I were doing this job I would change the relay and charge rather less than an Merloni call out fee.

Re: Ariston Margherita 2000 AWD 12

From the error codes list it looks like this is a problem with the heater relay so the main circuit board needs to be renewed or repaired. Might be worth getting an engineer via this site and asking for an estimate.

Once you have removed the bearing cross you could take it to one of the smaller car repair garages where they might remove the old bearings and fit the new ones quite cheaply.

    Re: Zanussi FJS 1425W pump

There are 2 pumps on this machine, the drain one is the one near the front of the machine. To remove it (unplug from mains first!) you ideally would remove the rear half cabinet but you can just about manage by just tipping the machine forward at an angle and looking underneath. Unplug the pump wires, wedge a large flat blade screwdriver under the edge of the filter housing near the pump and you should now be able to slide out the pump, which is on keyway rails. It’s worth taking the pump off and removing the cover before buying a new pump as often there is just a nail or rubber band etc jamming it.

    K.

Thats certainly the case with me these days. I’m on my own so don’t bother with a dishwasher or tumble dryer. Current cooker is a Tricity Bendix Tiara I got from a secondhand shop in exchange for a couple of repairs, washer is a Hotpoint WF540G which someone was throwing out and just needed a new heater, fridge freezer I did buy new, a Tricity Bendix ECD806 which has now seen better days.

Re: Bosch WFF1201 Washing Machine Drum Bearing

You should not need to remove the drum. You remove the pulley, unbolt the bearing cross from the outer drum, tap the end of the spindle to free it from the bearings and lift out the bearing cross. You can then drift out the old bearings and press or drift in the new ones.
