    Re: indesit door interlock

Depends on whether the machine has separate spades on the interlock wires or a 3 way plug. The white one takes the 3 way plug and vicky verca.

    Re: Mystery Cooker Hood

Well, I fitted the new assembly yesterday and it turned out to be a nightmare job. If I had just opened up the cover on the end of the fan housing I would have found the cables to the push buttons and light transformer are on plug in edge connectors. As it was, I installed the whole assembly as it came, complete with new control unit and a transformer wire that was too short to reach if routed correctly. The control unit is also a pig to get in and out 👿
The other thing I noticed is that there is no provision for an earth wire, just 2 core cable to the fused spur 😯

Re: Qualtex selling spares online at trade prices!!

I just had a look at the parts listed for a Hotpoint WM51 and they look to be well above trade price, most being higher than I would charge as a retail price.

Thanks Andy. Manufacturer also seems to be called Tecnowind, sounds like something out of Wallace & Gromit 😆

I wasn’t suggesting he didn’t have the skill to do soldering but that he was rendered incapable of doing it due to company policy/regulations. :rolls:

I think the cooker hood owners should have been offered a new appliance free of charge if the manufacturers repair man is incapable of repairing it.

I ended up ordering a new motor from Masterpart. Their price was not much over half what Connect were quoting and it arrived in not much over 24 hours. Out here in the back of beyond “next day delivery” can mean anything up to a week so I’m impressed

I think Qualtex do armatures for Dyson but I’ve not tried them as I don’t have an account with any Qualtex stockists.

I neglected to take the model number on the first visit as the customer was called away and I had to leave. I’ve just been back and it’s actually a Creda W220VW, just over a year old. I had assumed it was constructed like the WF models but it seems this one still uses the WMA seal. I suppose this is how it will be now Merloni are involved, no continuity of spares.

Re: Hotpoint WD61P No Motor Action

I’ve got a phone type tool, the fancy sort that snips the wire to length as it inserts it. Tried that, won’t work 🙁 I suppose the cheapo type might be different though 😕

    Thanks Martin.
£90 + VAT for the tool? 8O. Loose spades it is then. The machine is mine now anyway, customer rang to say he’s decided to get a new one. When I saw the 8 or so Scottish Gas service stickers on the back of the machine I realised why he’s given up on it.

    Re: Indesits spinning during wash

Yes, I’m amazed it doesn’t overload the motors, spinning fast with water in. I suppose old Hotpoints always used to do it at the start of the spin though, before they had time to drain much. 😕
