Thanks Geoff.Customer didnt wait a day! They went out and bought a new machine.Sounds like an easy repair, they shouldnt be so impatient -at least I got my callout fee.

The mains suppressor that I first received(the wrong one) had 3 tags on it.The one on the machine had 2 wires going in(L & N),an earth tag and live and neutral tags to the machine. It was released with a small plastic catch and lifting it upwards. In retrospect I could have released it by unclipping the water valve cover and slipping a screwdriver underneath to lift it up.So I’m under the impression there are 2 different versions of this part or is there a modification?

Chris you must have long fingers! Had to strip it down to replace it – what a pain especially when I found the part supplied was wrong one and I had to go back.Plastic bottomed boschs are coming into the workshop if they need stripping.

Thanks Jim but theres two versions of this model and mines the early one with programmer at the top and module attached to the base.I found a wiring diag for a 17038 which corresponded except all the motor wires were colour coded and the ones on the 17057E are all white – so I had to trace them all.It took me over an hour but everythings now hunkydory.Happy New Year.

This is one of the older machines with the motor plug wires going to various plugs on the programmer, I think its equivalent to one of the 95 series but Ive not got the service manual on this one.

ParticipantRe: AEG L16830
Went back today. The base was flooded – activating the anti flood switch.New pipe needed – a bra wire had pierced it.The only reference to the EFO fault is in the operators manual which also contains this gem of gobbledygook.
“Your Appliance is provided of a new ‘anti-flood device’.To make this feature is needed close the bottom of the machine with the bottom cover that you find in the drum. Please read the instructions inserted into bottom cover bag”What it means is that there is a plastic cover that fits into the base of the machine, effectively diverting any leak into the channel in the base where the anti flood switch is situated – needless to say the kitchen fitters hadnt fitted it.

What senses the over foaming? Is it the pressure switch.Tried the diagnostics but still got the EFO fault code.

ParticipantRe: What would you do?
Unblocking the filter is rarely as simple as unscrewing it and removing the blockage. The washer is full of water, the outlet pipe is threaded up and through the sink unit, unscrew the filter and you have water all over the floor.Customers pay you for your skill in emptying it without flooding the floor and if the bloke is looking over your shoulder to learn how to do it himself next time he pays for the privilege.Remember we are professionals, lawyers etc never give you any information for nothing why should we?

ParticipantRe: Another joke.
A store that sells new husbands has opened in New York City , where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:
= You may visit this store ONLY ONCE!
= There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights.
= The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!
So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:
Floor 1 – These men Have Jobs.
She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 2 – These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.
“That’s nice,” she thinks, “but I want more.”
So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:
Floor 3 – These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking.
“Wow,” she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.
She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 4 – These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework.
“Oh, mercy me!” she exclaims, “I can hardly stand it!”
Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 5 – These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 6 – You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.
PLEASE NOTE:
To avoid gender bias charges, the store’s owner opened a New Wives store just across the street.
The first floor has wives that love sex.
The second floor has wives that love sex and have money and like beer.
The third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors have never been visited -
