ParticipantRe: One piece welded tub seized solid!
Hi,
They don’t weld them to save production cost, it’s to make the thing so expensive that it is scrapped and therefore a new machine is purchased thus keeping the factory in full production.Thats also the reason spares are so high in price. Insurance companies are also to blame as they get a new appliance supplied at a bargain price direct from the manufacturer so keep the rest of the premium for the policy AND charge for delivery into the bargain.
All in bed together!!!
Only loser is the customer, us and the environment.
Rant over.

ParticipantRe: What Tumble Drier?
Lets get this straight. I have never sold an appliance with the thought of extra work because it will break down. I have more integrity than that. I sell appliances that I trust and my customers trust me in reverse. I value them.
Maybe you think White Knight are unreliable, that is your choice or experience but I find just the opposite having sold quite a number.
I also think the element is easy to change and at a price of around £8 a real bargain.
Rob
PS I didn’t see any mention of anybody recommending an appliance because it would be unreliable so where did you get that from Phidom?robbra
ParticipantRe: What Tumble Drier?
Always White Knight for me…Philips got it pretty right years ago and things haven’t been messed around for a few pence savings..Cheap to buy and parts are reasonable.

ParticipantRe: any good news?
Martin,
I think we can also add the plight suffered by Servis, who made pretty decent machines, after the sale to the Italians by Mr Moat. Factory closed and turned into a giant warehouse with them even bringing in their own painters from Italy to decorate the inside of the place. They started with good machines in the 90’s like the Easywash, good, solid and simple engineering but we all know what has happened since.
I went through the first and second bankruptcy with them so saw the good and bad but a great company to work for at the time.
Ps. and I mean this…Get well soon Kevinrobbra

Martin,
No pulling the wool over your eyes.
I hate what they do down this way but I do get a few recall jobs fron their customers when they get it wrong.
