    Re: work car or van

Just my new van 🙂 or should I say nearly new 60 Plate.

Mint condition Citroen Berlingo Enterprise 90 – had it 3 days now. Was going to buy new but this one came up at last minute locally with loads of extras and of course as it’s nearly new, extras don’t really make much difference when it comes to re-sale price so very happy with the price – pretty nippy compared to some vans I’ve driven.

Absolutely loads of little cubby holes/storage areas – quite well thought out and of course it’s not pink and it has a side door.

Just wondering how to fit it out or just leave every thing in the old courier boxes??

As it’s got 3 seats and the eldest it about to go to Uni, I suggested to SWMBO that we make it the family car… not happy

My son loves it and we can now get the trials bikes I promised him and for me of course 😀 😀 😀

Late canceller really hack me off, but it’s better than not being cancelled at all and turning up….

Now what is really bugging me is:

A call last week: Rather well to do couple, having their new (but rather old) house done up by builders. Sorted out thier badly plumbed washing machine and then was pointed to a vacuum cleaner. Their builder had “borrowed” their Miele TT5000. To cut a long story short, it was choked to death, both filters clogged, bag over full and machine full of dirt and grit. I took a dust filter from their new bag box (they’d never actually changed one). Took machine away, stripped, cleaned, sourced and fitted new exhaust filter. As good as new.

Returned it a couple of days later. Showed them how to change dust filter every five bags and explained the perils of letting builders use their cleaner. 🙂

I walk out to the car, write out the receipt and return to give them the receipt and I hear the cleaner going. Unbeleiveably being used by the same builder who used it last week. I bit my tougue, felt the cash in my pocket, left some cards and bid them good day.

Oooh.. Just tried a Pug Partner Professional today. Was not too sure about the position of the gear stick (it’s on the centre console below the radio) but had absolutely not problems with it and it drove really well.

Good possibility of a new Pug or the Citroen Equivalent (Berlingo Enterprise) but really want to get one before the new Euro Emission regs come into force on 1 Jan 12. Euro 5 2012 vehicles are already available, but as I under stand it, all vehicles manufactured after this 1 Jan need to comply to Euro 5 regs. Unless I’m wrong, I would try and stick to tried and tested Euro 4 spec vehicles. As with any thing new, it all takes a bit of time to settle down and iron out problem areas.

Back to Euro 4 spec Partner/Berlingo vehicles: The prices vary greatly and the guy at the Pug dealer said do NOT under any circumstances pay any where near the RRP/RSP.

This is a very good price and should be used as benchmark:
    Berlingo 1.6HDI 625 KG load 75 HP £8995+ or
    Berlingo 1.6HDI 850 KG load 90 HP £9997+

Already sold my old Estate and some one is coming to see the wife’s car tomorrow. Could have two new vehicles by the end of next week. One a business and one a private purchase. As if buying selling cars is not stressful enough I’ve got my eldest learning to drive but it’s ok, the Valium worked for me. 😀 😀 😀 😀

I got one of these just over 3 weeks ago and I’m well chuffed with it.

Might be slightly OTT for some of the lighter jobs but when you need the umph, it will be there. Be careful thought, even on the lowest torque setting it is still too powerful for smaller screws. However, you very easily master using the variable trigger and you learn to control the power.

Had a customer eying it up the other day so I had to keep it close to hand..

Three year warranty as well but probably not on the batteries

Re: Plastic paddles are ruining my life !!!!!

Just to throw my tuppence in….

Besides washing trainers and coin damage, what else can cause it?

What about the plastic breaking down? I know the problem is prevalent in dishwashers with the wheels regularly breaking down due to higher temperatures and stronger detergents.

However, I recently changed the paddles on a machine that had lost one but the other two were loose and after removing them, they definitely looked like the plastic had seen better days and looked like plastic that had been exposed to the elements.

    Just wondering peoples thoughts???

Remember the Indesit machine that had a trainer wash programme? Thought that was easy work until I started getting the recals week after week.

Re: Twin Tub Virgin – 9404W

Thanks to all for advice, it was a motor fault. I still spent a bit of time looking at the machine in general. So light and I presume they were easy to work on? Access is great and just turn it on it’s side to access the bottom. (Martin noted your comment about not activating the relay whilst on it’s side…) where did we go wrong with modern machines? I think we might of moved a bit backwards. I didn’t realise they were so economical to use. Not so good it you’ve not got the time to use one but I can see why people are keen to keep hold of them.

    Regards

Re: Twin Tub Virgin – 9404W

I did manage to get out to this in the end yesterday. The fault was not at all what the lady described.

On the spin side: when the lid is lowered in to position you get a loud humm. I initally thought seized or a capacitor problem.

You can rotate the spin motor, and basket freely by hand. All the mechanism appears to work as it should. I looked for a capacitor on the spin notor circuit but couldn’t find it. Three wires from the motor to neutral and two up to a relay. Relay relay tests ok. Where’s the capacitor for the motor? Is it hidden in some obsucure place??

I took the opportunity to to have look and check a few things to see how it all works. The belts are ok and the brake works and disengages correctly. The clutch seems to be ok as you rotate in by hand (when on it’s side) you hear each cluch move. I disasembled the clutch and the clutch pads appear to move freely and should engage. Albiet a bit shiny, I’ll have to roughen them up. It all seems at first as they would have been lovely to work on or are there hidden horrors in them?

    DC84 – is that Dec 92??

Had one similar recently where the previous tenant had lost the bolt and fitted a wooden dowel. Of course it lasted about 1 day with the new tenant…. I would have a hatred of tenants if they did not give me so much work….

    Re: Electrolux dishwasher – ESL614 – Hinges

You have to pull the machine out, sides off, door springs off, and door off. Not difficult.

However, about two months ago I was asked to look at a Lux intergrated DW. Both springs and brakes were dead. Contstant dropping of the door due to no springs and heavy oak door, and the hinges were in a very poor state.(too bad to straighten out) I did warn the Landlord that it could be a risk repairing it. It all went back together ok and seemed to be fine. No leaks or obvious steam. However in the last few days tenants are saying steam is escaping from the top…. Been told if it’s not a faulty seal to remove the dish washer….. If it’s in a really bad state, it might be worth avoiding. Of course a Luxpert (Lux expert) might say differently. Mine was a case of tenants who didn’t care…… and left it far too long to get it sorted….
