Hi Mike, you really seem to have got your teeth into this one and you are following it in great detail. I have been watching your replies with interstest and just scoop off your highlights (saves me reading through heaps of pages).
BP are the best people to put it right but they didn’t cause it as such. They “sub contracted” the work to a drilling company (It was owned by Transocean) although BP are bearing the full brunt of it.
Obama won’t do too much. A bit of sabre rattling to make himself look good to voters. He knows that BP can sort it.
Rightly or wrongly, it’s part of the risk in trying to get at the oil at such depths……… And greediest market for oil – the USA.If you think there’s a lot flak now try cutting off the supply, trust me he (Obama) will lift the ban on Gulf drilling as soon as he can.
Watch this space, mean while I will look forard to your updates and observation – keep up the good work.

sorted. Display showed a partial 5/S symbol the rest of the buttons useless.
Simple power recycle, worked fine. Checked all elements, all ok. The only thing it might of been was the bulb blew, must have thrown the pcb into a wobble. Full heat test – fine. Easiest job for ages

I was at a customer this afternoon, knocked on the door waiting for her to come to the door – GAS all I could smell was GAS. Getting concerned, started looking around and meter box about 7 ft up the wall. The lady, who I know but not that well, “oh we always smell gas but can’t notice it if there’s any wind.”
OMG what planet is she on? Back there soon and I think I manged to persuade her to call util company. Told her if it’s after the meter then it’s your responsibility (offering to call a gas eng I know) – “oh we’ve got insurance cover on water, gas and electric so might won’t cost me owt.” Just sort it woman!!!

That is a heat related problem, which possibly ties in with your comment about an item of clothing being shredded. The heater could have been damaged by the clothing or whilst trying to remove it.
You need to be checking the heater, resistance should be around 30 ohms (when isolated from the circuit) and also check it with an isulation tester because it sounds like it may have an earth fault.
If it is a faulty heater it is available here:
http://alturl.com/sfd3Alternatively if it is not the heater it starts to get a little more complicated so one thing at a time.
If you are going to have a look your self, pull the plug and make sure it’s the correct plug-:plug: :zap: :zap:

ParticipantRe: Bosch Washing Machine Programme fault wfo2867gb15
Seem to remember something similar on another WFO series. IIRC it was, tripping when heater kicked in. When I got to it, confirmed the heater was the culprit. Fitted new heater and it kept jumping time at the heating stage similar to your description and also not heating. Customer admitted she kept on trying machine despite it tripping everytime. So presume she damamged the pcb but she didn’t want to take it any further do couldn’t confirm it. May/may not help you – could be heater and pcb repair/replacment. HTH

Hi TheAbbot,
It is normal manufacturers to route pipe work around the door areas. The idea being that the heat will prevent condensation from forming.
You may not notice it during normal temerature periods. It might be particularly pronounced at the moment.
exmple. We have a Leibherr freezer and I have hardly noticed it on ours until recently because the freezer is now in our extention. This extention is very well insulated and doesn’t cool as quickly as the older part of the house did.
Whilst I’m not the most experienced refrigeration engineer, I have not come accross a situation where it affects any of the compartments.
It might be worth while ensuring better ventillation at the back and also ensure the condensor (black grill) is clean and free of debris and dust build up.
Other than that, some other engineers might have some better suggstions.
Hope that helps.

Never a truer word said. About 3 years ago a friend who I used to work with at Comet was a right lazy so and so, silver tougned git who always seem to come out smelling of roses.
Anyway, He was due to go and live abroad and 4 months before he went he told Comet what to do, went to work for a local company as a Sparky – blow me 3 weeks later he’s back in his Comet blacks…. strange.. he wasn’t giving owt away. Eventually, a few days before moving abroad he comes and has a beer spills the beans. He couldn’t hack it as a sparky as they had a tracker on his van and he was on his final final final warning before he left. They were making me work a full day….. showed his true colours then. He’s now skiving abroad.

ParticipantRe: Indesit £74.95
Just rang them to clarify prices. Got a Feb 05 FEW12 shot to bits because the customer “didn’t hear” the bearings going.
Their price options:
a. £115.00, apparently they can only guarantee this repair for 90 days.. ermmmm…. ok then
or
b.
£16.49 x 10 montlhy payment for 12 months guarantee.
Can’t see where the £74.95 comes in unless it’s for smaller repairs under 5 years.
Other than that, can’t see what has changed.
PS, if you do ring up, they won’t give you a quote without a name, adress and contact number, so have some info to hand (pseudonym).

Quite common for Letting agents. Some are open and truthful about it, others keep stum and don’t say owt. There is a thread about it some where on UKW. Never mind at least you got paid 😀 😀
