E40 is a door fault, all 40’s (E40,E41,E42,E43) are in relation to door,
Consumer will normally only get a E40 fault shown, but if you (the engineer) go into diagnostics & check fault register you should get a more specific code, eg E41,E43 etc
10s water filling
20s draining
30s water pressure
40s door
50s motor
60s heating
70s temp sensing
80s programme selection
90’s PCBshope this helps

Some Stoves have a PCB on the back of the cooker that controls the fan, theres a large resistor that i remember causing this problem but i’m not sure if its same type of cooker.

Check cable connections to motor & board, board fault can also give this (F4) which means no signal received from tacho. There is a thermal cut-out in motor windings which can go open circuit also worth a check.

ParticipantRe: Miele FlL W320 Pump not working.
Have you tried to supply the pump with power to see if it runs?
I keep a cable with insulated crimp tags on one end & a plug-top with 3A fuse for testing the like of this. Some of these pumps have temp’ cut outs built in to the windings so pump could actually be open circuit. You could try to bring a permanent neutral from another source see if it would work, it should still gets its phase supply when needed from board.Seamy

ParticipantRe: Miele T5213
Is it the commercial one with heater assembly down on left hand side? If so there are cut-outs on top of heater which sometimes need to be re-set. Relay can also be a problem with them. If appliance wired to run on 240v check links on supply terminals as heating system on some had three separate circuits & if one phase was missing they wouldn’t heat.

Have tool box, will travel..
Seriously though, i know its difficult to get the information from Miele, its their technical info which they developed so obviously they won’t have it available to everyone, if you have any particular problems with specific models post them on here and someone will try to help you.

If you require the fault code/test procedure for any machine it would be helpful if you were to post the model num’ of appliance & the fault?

Some Electrolux cookers/ranges are marketed by Glen Dimplex with a different model num’ here in Ireland not sure if you have them there in England. Should be a product num’ starting 44444????… if sticker is gone off front there may also be number on back.

In service mode you can increase water level, think you can recalibrate level sensor also but this may only be possible via laptop.
After water is pumped out of machine and levels drop below say 5mm level sensor assumes this as zero, so over time it can go out of sync.
Isn’t there a breather tube also from soap drawer to tub hose, which goes (via Y piece) to top of outlet drain manifold, i’d think both would need to be blocked to cause problem discussed.
From memory on those machines there are 3 steps to be met, 8mm of water has to be in machine inside 45secs, 50mm is first level, then after a few tumbles a recalculation is taken to allow for soakage and more water is introduced if needed up to a level of 180mm depending on the programme selected. Heater should not be switched on unless level is made and should be shut off if level goes low.I’ve had a few pressure vessels blocked also once or twice came across welding contacts on heating relay.
These relays if you check are fed directly from supply before the on/off button. 👿 -
