Thanks for the replies. I cleaned and tightened module connections and replaced a sticking pump and it works OK. Happy customer

    Re: Low Pressure

I would always use a Stuart and Turner RG250 brass pump. Built to last and never any problems. Usually on american washers I would take a feed off the water valve. For machines which can’t handle the extra current you can use the same pump with an integral flow switch.

Not always the cheapest way to do it, but no call backs and a happy customer

    Re: Merloni Smart Card Readers

I too have had CDSL phone me and email me wanting me to buy smart card reader, hardware key, and low end adaptors for £206.92. The hardware key I am considering buying, but their info says it is a MK1 key. Does that mean there is a MK2 ?

    Re: Washing machine rentals.

A few years ago when I did rentals, I would insist that the customers own house insureance should cover any accidents or disasters.

I made it a condition on the rental agreement that the customer signed.

Re: wiring solid hotplates to energy reg

Most solid rings consist of 3 elements. A 6 position regulator will switch in differing combinations to give 6 power levels.
    e g position 1 = element 1
    position 2 = element 1+2
    position 3 = element 1+3
    position 6 = element 1+2+3
    etc

There is a good chance that the triac on the board is faulty. Trace the wires from the valve, and solder on a new one. It might be worth a go

Not sure on your model number, but when the interior light, the fast freeze neon, and the mains neon, don’t work, it usually means the control module is at fault. I have changed a few control modules, and it has always cured the fault.

    Re: Fridge and freezer stats

Thanks for the replies guys. I did fit an VT9 to a large Hotpoint RL850 larder fridge, where the capillary went down a tube, but it kept overfreezing. So I ended up fitting a genuine Hotpoint one, and it cured the fault. But gen stats are quite pricey. Maybe a VX0 would have fitted. Thanks again.

I had the same thing happen on an IGNIS built in single oven, except that it was the outer glass. The customer assured me there was no misuse, so I have know idea what caused it.
