Unfortunately this is the sort of problem we face daily with Hotpoint / Indesit appliances. before scrapping the machine do you have the facilities for checking the door wiring harness for breaks? i.e Multimeter.
Please don’t forget: POWER OFF & PLUG OUT FIRST.

I know this may seem a silly question but when he connected the water pipe/s up, did he remember to turn the water on? it’s surprising how many people make this mistake.
If the water is on i’d try going through setting it onto wash again, following the user instructions.Specialist01269

Totally agree with you mate, we should be able to report them. I tried reporting 1 to trading standards a while back, but as usual they were’nt interested. A few weeks later I had trading standards on the phone laying down the law because i’d been reported for a dodgy repair to some bints fridge freezer, they were’nt really interested in anything I had to say about the complaint so i ended up going to my solicitors & letting them sort it out. Major problem with the complaint was the fact that I don’t do refridgeration work & never have since I started in this trade.

Hi: It may not be as simple as just replacing the Control PCB, most Hotpoint boards nowadays come Unconfigured, so on top of the PCB you would need to spend about another £85 – £90 For the programmer / software key etc which is why we have suggested getting an Engineer to do the job for you. Hotpoint especially seem to put a lot of obstacles in the way of DIY repair nowadays.

Your assumption is correct, it’s dangerous to remove / bypass the fan. if you look in the UK whitegoods shop you may find them available at a very good price.

Think Iadom covered that in his reply to your initial post, it could be any 1 of a number of things causing your problems & your machine would need testing by an Engineer to find the specific problem. On these machines it’s quite likely to be the control PCB which will be pretty expensive.

Before going down the replace harness or soldering wires on to the PCB have you tried somewhere like Maplin for a suitable replacement connector?

What do you need to know?Machine was dead with fuse blown & customer had a local “engineer” to look at it, unfortunately he decided to disconnect the pressure switch & interlock. I just wanted to make sure I was putting the wiring back right, if the guy had any clue what he was doing he would have found the duff input filter before getting to anything else. Will finish the repair tomorrow & hopefully that will be the end of it.
