Surely Martin must be up for the crown ? 😉

For me at 61 it’s not worth selling appliances with a 10 year gaurantee as at 70 i won’t want u/g calls 🙂
Probably keep going though to some extent though.

    Re: Creda Fridge Explosion!

Interesting that the sweedish fire service investigating a similar event blamed it on a squirty cream container that was leaking, the propellent used is nitrous oxide which is produced from ammonia nitrates,it can also be used in rocket fuel 😯
Is r600a used as a propellent in any cans?
All manner of possibilities, lets hope they can find the true cause as opposed to giving possiblities.

    Re: Oldest customer ?

Had a call to cooker, old tricity, oven inner cavity rotting away.
Said it’s not reparable you need a new one, customer said “I don’t want to be buying a new one at my age,I’m 100 in 4 months”.
Had no idea she was that old and didn’t wear glasses either 😯
Strange logic, why worry at that age. 😕

Re: Samsung RL36SBMS – not freezing

This site has a facility for searching for local engineers.
Samsung also have agents who repair stuff for them.
Depend how old it is and how much you want to spend so an estimate is worth looking into.

If it’s Candy and 9 years old your already a winner,my advice don’t push your luck,it’s time is up.
Good idea to get two seperates, the small chest freezers are very cheap in comparison and are better suited to garage use.
plenty of cheap options too for a second fridge.

Re: MFI APM 6325 integrated fridge running at 7.5 – 10.5 deg

If it’s more than 5 years old has it ever been removed from fittings/cupboard and pipework/condenser cleaned, after that sort of time it’s likely it’s blocked with dust and fluff.
Switch off at mains release screws that hold it in and pull forward, then get out your vacuum and brush 😕
Try running it for a day or so before putting back into cupboard.

Re: hotpoint mistral i.c f/f FF72N temperture problem?

UNPLUG AND DON’T MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS WHILST PLUGGED IN !!The plug you have removed is a thermistor,E7 means an open circuit thermistor so it’s recognising you are unpluging it.
Thermistors resistance would need to be measured with a meter to ID if they do have a problem, which I doubt as it would show a fault from E1 to E8 to ID what was the problem.

Fan operation is governed by evaporator temperature so doesn’t run on start up until evap temp falls sufficiently.
Any ice around the fins ?would suggest you make a brew and trawl through this

Running costs can be calculated by checking the wattage ie it’s going to be around a 300watt consumption (will be on the data plate inside)try here to work out your costs.
It’s always less than you imagine.

Re: zanussi Fridge freezer. fridge not staying cold

Leave if off and doors open overnight. Then usuing a hair dryer and NO SHARP OBJECTS patiently melt whats left until you can clear the ice.
You may have a control/thermistor/defrost problem but first clear the ice so you can then run again to see if fault is still there.
Blockages can occur through malfunction or maybe the freezer door hasn’t been closed pproperly overnight.
Not sure of the electronics on this so won’t go further but clearing the ice completely should get you going again.

The black domed device is the motor/compressor,box on the side is the relay, the condenser is the black radiator device up the back or sometimes it’s underneath with a fan to help it cool.

Re: Groaning FF Freezer JLFZW 1806

Looking doesn’t indicate what’s going on internally, gauges would need to be connected to ensure pressure of system are correct.
However as i said before if the temps of the compartments
are OK bearing in mind the noisey refrigerant in new appliances then you are likely to be worrying over nothing.

Re: Groaning FF Freezer JLFZW 1806

Check the black radiator at the back, look for the small pipe leaving the compressor,it will be very hot to the touch.
Look where it goes onto the black radiator device(condenser)it snakes down and whilst it will be warm to the touch at the top should be cooled off by the time it is 3/4 of the way down.
If the compressor is extremely hot to the touch also you could have a refrigerant loss and then it’s time to get the engineer back.

    Re: PLUG DILEMMA

We find a few with the plug changed anyway,if is fed up through a small hole in a worktop etc it’s a case of cutting of the moulded and fitting a new one.
Would it affect the warranty, doubt it as long as it doesn’t go faulty or is not wired correctly etc or the manufacture would be charging for the call.
There are british plug to euro socket extensions available to buy.
Strange that we changed to the square pin plug in the UK circa 1970 ish which was to comply with the continent, now we are the only ones using it ! :rolls:
