£55 -£75 wouldn’t be far out,it probably would have been a bonded glasss to the inner door frame so you may get a new frame too.

The side tank is a metering device connected to water softener so there is not much pressure behind the water inlet, designed that way, steady flow is normal, how long does it take to fill ?getting on for a couple of minute is OK.
If your switch is broken replace it (although 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the parts for this old girl are obsolete).
Someone on here may be able to help you out with a spare if you are stuck.

Now that area must be quite a nice spot to be an engineer. Is there a leak when the machine is not being used ?or is it just
when the machine is in operation.

Did a couple of jobs am,just remembered a guy when I worked for Electrolux defrosted his upright freezer with a blow lamp 😯 and then called us under gaurantee because the
plastic lining had all shrivelled and rolled back,he got short shrift from us but then rang a few weeks later alll cocky cos he had claimed a new one on his house insurance.

All trade folks will say it should be switched off when the machine is not in use.
Reason is that mains pressure, just like the £ can go up and down,it is often higher in the night when there is little demand and could leak through joints etc,you have mains pressure water in a plastic or rubber hose, these can be faulty from time to time and fail, albeit very rarely when it does it is a disaster ! 😯
No chance of claiming for damages if you leave them on and it leaks when you are out or sleeping.

If you have taken your old one out measure the depth you have available, the indesit one may well be OK,as there could be spare room at the back.
Check with indesit specification for size and then check the cupboard that it fits in.
While you have it out check that there is sufficient ventilation ie a gap at the top through which warm air can escape and an equal gap at the bottom so it can pass through easily. Many fridges in built in circumstances aren’t given enough ventilation by the kitchen fitters, consequently they struggle and fail ecause of it sometimes.

Could do with a mod but doesn’t seem forthcoming so have on a few opened up the drain hole/non return valve, thats so that on defrost all the water drains away and none gets left in the valve, this freezes and sets it off again.
Whatever it’s made of seems to harden and hold water in when it defrosts so I’ve opened it up with a permanent hole of an 1/8th inch which seems to have done the trick, also the heat rising from the motor helps to keep the hole clear.Doesn’t effect the running at all.

If the fridge was noisey could have been the motor in “the final throws”.Unless you are competent with a test meter it’s probably worth spending the cost of a call out to establish the fault before you make a decision either way.
Thermosts’s are around £38 ish,not a dificult job for a resonably competent person.
Motor fitting cost approaches £200 and an engineers job only.

Re: Whirlpool DWF 415 S Door fitting instructions

Hi, is this a semi integrated machine ie you can see the timer knob and on off switch above the wooden door.
there would be two plastic strips which are screwed to the wooden door and then the door is offered up and slides upwards to mate with slots in the metal door of the machine,it’s then locked in place with 4 screws.
First google for Whirlpool site they usually have downloads which should include the instructons to fit this door.

It’s just the ” why didn’t I think of that” syndrome,ie traceing the wires through, hands probably a bit to shaky at 60+ for fine tip soldering, might give it a go though .
Only found this board recently, been missing out since it began.
I’ve been a one man operation since 1983 and it’s great talking to folks in the same situation and business.
    cheers

Thanks, feel a bit of a dumbo, traced it through to water directional valve which according to the Bosch site is part of the heater assembly.
Cost of control pcb and the valve will mean it’s on a journrey back to the chineese furnaces.

Have had a second look at this and have found that a triac has blown on the board,as I said earlier checked everything else, can’t find or see any other faults.
    Both pumps run fine.
