Have you tested the heater? All flashing lights on these are just normally the dryer probe.

On some machines a short heater version is available.

The safety stat would still operate and open circuit the heater circuit.

    Re: Hotpoint WDL540G issues.

I had an indesit version of this on Monday. Washing machine fine, dryer cutting out after 5 to 10 minutes.
I fitted a new dryer ntc (white end and a different more pointed probe). After fitting it the washing machine was doing similar things to yours. Plugged the original back in and the washing machine went back to normal. In the end I fitted an ntc from a hotpoint washer heater, touch wood all seems ok.
    My points are:
Yes an ntc can cause wierd things to happen.
The newer style ntc probe may not suit your model.

If it’s a true fault code did you check motor, heater etc?

Circulation motor code. Replacing faulty part will clear error.

So is this one of your rental machines or somebody else’s? If you don’t know it’s history the Water level may be wrong because of incorrect drum fitted or pressure switch?

Certainly an out of circuit motor gives you those display issues. Assuming brushes and wiring are good then motor is the issue.

Probably the hose at the bottom of the condenser is blocked. Pour loads of hot water through the manifold and carefully rod with a fill hose or equivalent.
