Very common this on these 904/2426/02 timer/mods. They skip through too quickly. Change the timer and all should be well. Check thermister though first to make sure around 20-30K when cold. We have the timers in stock. Tony EMW

New element …. All this adds up to a well used machine. So.. my guess is that dreaded burning pressure switch. Fit a BRAND NEW one as they burn inside and cause that rotation.

Fit a brand new pressure switch. Aborting after 10 mins suggests your pressure switch is burning inside, causing the timer rotation.

Here we go again. Probably a board memory fault. We supply at £34.90+vat or £5+vat if you have to return it (aftyer trying it in the machine of course) Tony EMW 0115 9652118

Could be a board memory fault. We can “lend” you one for £5+vat (our handling charge if you have to return it having tried it in the machine) Tony EMW 0115 9652118

ParticipantRe: Interlocks blow PCB’s – why?
Hotpoint interlocks (WM and WMA series) have a tiny heater inside them to heat up the bi-metallic strip that effectively bends across and starts up the machine. More importantly, the strip slowly cools at the end of the wash, giving the delay before a door will open. Problem is, these heaters need a live and neutral supply to work and eventually the heating element melts or simply burns out and live meets neutral inside the interlock. This then blows tracks on the timer where the interlock is fed. I guess manufacturers could fit fuses but it’s hardly in their interest to do so. After all, another 50p spent on something like that cannot be justified in their eyes these days. Another problem is that sometimes the ‘blow’ takes out or scrambles part of the program on the microcontroller that times the whole sequence. Blowing interlocks have kept many engineers busy in the last 10 years or so and perhaps we should he glad we’ve got them ! Other makes keep us busy with shorting pumps (Zanussi & Hoover), mains-carrying tracks 2mm apart that ‘jump’ the gap (Indesit, Ariston, late Hotpoint) and cheap short-life components (Servis).

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM62
This is one of the most common faults on this series of timer/module BUT…. remember that these machines do not ‘static hold’ unlike earlier WM machines (the 904/2385 series of timers hold without motor action until the water is quite warm). So, if the water is quite cool as it goes in on a WM62, it will still march through the program and not get anywhere near the correct temperatures. The thermister merely slightly delays the onward movement of the timer. The heater will go on & off at various points until it reaches the rinse stage. If the heater is open circuit, these timers will still go through the program. The best way to check these timers for timing faults is to put the machine on the long spin program and check for a 4-5 minute spin. If it does this ok, chances are you have a good timer. If you want to try another timer, then you can ‘borrow’ one of ours for £5+vat for 21 days. Tony 0115 9652118
