OR from us INCUDING eprom £34.90+vat inc first class post ! Tony EMW 0115 9652118 AND we include a comprehensive A4 guide to fault finding on these machines AND you can return it if it turns out not to be a module problem for £5+vat (21 days later, even though it’s been used in a customers machine!). Baffles me why anybody could even think about new stuff these days AND we guarantee them 12 months AND we will talk to you on the telephone should you need technical help AND we will replace it for £5+vat (inc post) if you blow the thing up by mistake.

Send it to us for test (£5+vat inc return post) or if faulty repair (£34.90+vat) with a note of model no. and fault. Tony (http://www.emwelec.co.uk). Try tightening tiny edge connectors first (nip them with your fingers when off the board)

ParticipantRe: hotpoint wd420
First try pulling off the tiny edge connectors, nipping them hard with your fingers & replacing. If this does not work, then send it to us with a note of the model no. and the fault and we will test & repair same-day (£34.90+vat) Tony (http://www.emwelec.co.uk)

ParticipantRe: hotpoint timer?
These are not interchangeable. You can substitute one just to check motor action or spin but you will end up with incorrect wash temperatures if you use the wrong timer. Tony EMW

John, if you get really stuck with this one, we can test the main board & the display (both have chips that communicate with each other) for £6+vat for the pair. Tony EMW

This is a classic fault on the 513296 / 513316 timer/module. We use better parts than the original and once you’ve changed the unit over, it will spin a treat ! In stock at £39.90+vat post free. Nothing to do with motors on this one.

Classic fault on this model – change timer and all is solved. We of course stock them. Tony EMW

These boards are notorious for ‘tracking’. This is where damp builds up on the board causing voltages to jump across the tracks. Better design with tracks further apart would stop this. In time, carbon deposits are formed where tracking has taken place. This then makes the board less and less reliable as the voltages now follow the carbon trail. Brushing the board with a fine wire brush clears the sooty deposits making the board more reliable. Advise the customer to ventilate the kitchen more and hopefully the damp or condensation issue will not return.

ParticipantRe: Zanussi ZT102 timer blown
The Zanussi 513214 and 513234 timers are demons for corrupting the main 28pin Motorola microcontroller. Thankfully when we replace this chip, we PREVENT this possibility in the future as we write-protect it. In fact, we have never had a 513214 or 513234 back with a corrupted chip. However, do remember that the reason these chips get corrupted in the first place is often due to a motor fault. When the engineer re-fits the timer, 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time everything is OK. Sometimes, the timer will not function as the motor has a permanent fault. We even print this on our label. In these circumstances just contact us and we will be happy to take the timer back into stock for a mere £4 handling charge. So when the customer sais ‘take the thing away’ after you have spent money with us having the timer repaired, just send it back and all you will lose is £4 + vat handling charge. The dreaded WD12 and W103. Try these :
1 dry the board with a hairdryer & then get a fine wire brush and scrub the green side. Get the customer to ventilate the kitchen better
2 change the carbons (even if 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} left on them – uneven wear can cause timer rotation)
3 tighten edge connectors with stanley blade (each pin). On the tiny edge connectors where it is not possible to get a blade in – pull them off, nip them hard with your fingers and replace.
4 check thermisters (about 25-40K when cold). Remember that the WD12
has 2. The one on the top of the tub is the favourite one for going open circuit or the wire to it snapping.
5 check heater for earth leaks
If all this fails to get the machine going, send the board to us for test. Make sure you mark the model number on the board.

ParticipantRe: servis M3009A auto
This is quite common. Often due to slight differences in the thickness of the PCB. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS tighten every pin in each of the 3 edge connectors when changing these modules otherwise these strange faults crop up. I know it sounds illogical that if a pin does NOT make, that the pump should run BUT these modules use a 28 pin microcontroller and 1 pin down often switches unwanted items ON ! Customers often say ‘the edge connectors felt tight’ – well that’s just not good ebough. Tony EMW

Don’t forget that it’s absolutely essential that when fitting these timers that you have the locking washers fitted to the 2 screws holding the timer in place. Failure to put these back and the extra 1mm of screw catches the cam and stops the timer moving on – hence the loud click. Tony EMW
