ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WT741 thermistor
Worth checking the connections on the module squeeze the plug gently with a pair of pliers and clean the contacts. I think it is unlikely to be the thermister.

electrofix wrote:not a lot u can do unless you can get board out of jelly
but look at it this way if the customer is in agreement you have nothing to loose if you can get at the solder joints even by cutting a hole in the plastic frame then you can replace it
hope this helps
Dave
Did think of that Dave……..BUT the capacitor is a 430w 330uf and I am not sure if I could get one anywhere?
As for the fuses Mike, it is the 13a plug fuse that is going with quite a spark! I have disconnected everything from the pcb and tried again….it still blows the fuse, I then tried it with just the mains lead and the little filter board and it was okay.
The capacitor is a lumpy 330uf! and as I said, it has a large lump in the side which sugests it has blown. Have now ordered a new PCB from connect I will try to find a new cap as well and may do as you sugest Mike and drill a big hole in the back of the plastic, it will be nice to know if I can at least use it as a tester for any future lg’s I think the pcb may well be interchangeable.
Thanks for replies ……..I will report back with results! 😀

Hey!…….if I could type as easy as I can talk this reply would be about fifty pages long!
I have had a couple of occasions within the last week or so when I have been made to think I may have mis diagnosed, “phoned a friend” just to confirm I am not losing the plot (I am not apparantly).

1 ‘cos you talk too much!
2 why 40a? 30 is fine!
3 before you connect to a live supply you should be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure that the supply is okay! earth loop etc. ……..do you have a meter so that you can check that circuit? If not I would mega the cooker for insulation & earth bond and then tell him he needs a sparky for the dodgy circuit.

Mike.Mike I think you may be right with the pressure switch……I am going to try that and report back! (No holes in tubing etc) Thanks for your input guys

ParticipantRe: WMA drum support screws
I always give the screws a good wack on the head with a punch (Amir Khan fashion 😆 ) The punch needs to be a similar diameter to the head.
This usualy breaks the seal and the screw comes out really easily, it is very rare that I have to renew the screws.
If you are still needing some screws I have a few spares.

ParticipantRe: Should I refund the money.
Chris,
In my humble opinion I think you did exactly the right thing!
You had a dilema – you asked for advice and then having read everyones input you made a decision, the right one!!
At least the toerag that was trying to pull a fast one knows that he got caught doing it! If they had complained about waiting three days I am sure you would have agreed to them getting someone else to atend same day and refunded them.
Incidently SOMETIMES the line of MOST resistance is, in fact, the best one!

I know it can be a pain………..but in my experience the best price is ALWAYS acheived on the ‘phone.
If I order online I can be sure I won’t be able to negotiate a better price! Some times the ‘phonecall is worth the time

ParticipantRe: belling oven xou117 is my customer deluded?
Not sure of this model…..BUT does it have a “Fan” element i.e. circular element around the fan?
went to a bosch recently that had a fan …..but only a top and base element. The top element (and grill) working fine but the bottom element was open circuit. The oven was getting warm but not hot!
