ParticipantDoes sound like the timer unit has failed. It’d be worth doing as electrofix advises and seeing if it can be bypassed.

ParticipantI don’t know this specific model but usually with fan ovens the air is drawn into the grill in front of the fan and blown out around the sides. You certainly should be able to feel it blowing hot air around.

ParticipantDoes the water get hot as it sounds like it’s waiting for it to get to temperature? If it’s still cold I’d be looking at the heating element or its control circuitry.

ParticipantVery unusual for all the elements to have gone. You say it was second hand, and I wonder if it has sat unused for a while and the elements have got damp inside. If so they might just need a bake in another oven to dry them out.

ParticipantI’d probably put it in the fabric conditioner compartment, run a standard wash to completion, and then put some fabric conditioner in and run just a rinse cycle.

ParticipantIf it’s under 30 days old you are within your rights to reject it and ask for a refund or replacement.
With respect to power usage they are designed to be left on 24/7 and the power draw with just the clock running shouldn’t be more than a few watts. I appreciate that still costs money but havin to reset the clock every time you use it seems like a lot effort to me.tubafan

Agree – if it’s a ‘new for old’ policy then they are certainly not fulfilling that. I’d go back to the insurer and ask why they think a Hotpoint/Indesit is comparable to a Liebherr unit.

ParticipantDoes sound like a power fault, where the maximum draw causes the unit to crash and reset. A failing capacitor could well cause such a fault and I’d be looking inside the clock unit to see if anything is obviously amiss.

ParticipantInterestingly the ukwhitegoods shop brings up this – https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/5736330200-fridge-compressor-starting-relay

ParticipantDoes the one they’ve sent physically fit, as if so it should just be a case of working out the wiring difference?

ParticipantIs the fan running properly as it sounds like the elements are overheating. It should spin freely and easily by hand and they usually carry on spinning for a second or so after power is removed.

ParticipantThey do appear to be LEDs from the description on Hotpoint’s site , but as Dave has said above the two that aren’t working don’t affect the functionality so I too would leave it alone.
Must say I’m surprised that the alarm light came on when the socket power failed as that’s certainly not usual.June 8, 2022 at 5:30 pm in reply to: Fride Freezer high running cost and condensation ontop. #482630tubafan
ParticipantLooks like Dave beat me to it.

ParticipantThere are more knowledgeable people on here, but all that condensation on the top suggests to me that it is working overly hard to keep the temperature down. That could be due to the insulation failing or low refrigerant in the system. Either would likely be uneconomic to fix on an old appliance.

ParticipantThe X2 capacitor Dave is referring to is the large grey rectangular one at the bottom of your picture.
