Re: Creda Tumble Dryer rear bearing/shaft

the rear bearing has been the same for years they used to call it polypenco bearing and although it always seemed too small for the job I only changed them through “normal” wear and tear. then, goodbye jockey pulley hello stretch belt and hello bearing failure. if you catch them before shaft meets back panel your in luck otherwise at best its shaft repair kit at worst tub rubs through and its hardly worth doing.
    Ah progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I take it the tacho is ok? a sudden high speed burst from the motor often causes motor arcing.

Re: How Independents Can Control the Market………

15 years ago a bog standard 800 would cost you not short of 300 quid. H.M. gov decided prices were fixed too high and stepped in to the delight of the big boys who thought they could see a killing. now, you can buy a “good” machine (i.e. AW1001) for not much more than 200 quid
the result in my own town is independants from eight to two big boys gone ,well, out of town sheds now. a modern generation of customers that expect prices to continue to fall and use that well worn opening line “whats your cheapest……………”

I had similar on one of these caused by condensation forming on the heater. machine was running backwards causing reverse airflow. if I remember right ,it should run clockwise main sequence short run no heat reverse (anti tangle). timer was faulty.

    Re: 2 problems

had this on a zanussi once it turned out to be caused by a “pog” a sort or little disc that kids play with and collect. this thing fitted exactly into the inlet of the manifold and as the water pushed forward as the spin started the pog twisted blocked the inlet the pressure switch tripped level one and the spin aborted now I always check the sump rather more carefully!
