Why not have a lpg hob ?

Then you wont have to change from gas.

This is more than likely a pre plastic plug version and its a swine, working off memory here so may miss something out but :

    Remove facia

Will see 2 screws, 1 either side under the hotplate, remove them.

Undo the screws either side of the hotplate that screw the side trims on.

Next bit you can do the long way if you wish which is remove the lid and such till you get to a point that the hotplate will lift up and remove

    or

the way I used to do it was lift the hotplate side trims to around a 45 degree angle, then put my finger in a burner and pull the hotplate upwards till it clears the flue trim…. job done and in about a quater of the time of doing it the other way.

The new installations now have to be hard piped, older may be on flexi hose.
I appreciate that you want to clean under it but there is a chance that if it is hard piped, you may put stress on the joint/s and comprimise the pipe soundness ie – cause a leak that may or not be detected by sense of smell.
A quick look under the hob will reveal if its hard or flexi piped.

GregHi, new installations dont have to be a rigid fix if the manufacturer allows it in their handbook (stoves for example always did, even after that was made a gas reg).

Iff you do try to lift the hob to clean then like gegsy said you could easily cause a leak, esp if there is compression fittings to the hob.

Its not really worth cleaning under it anyway as it would be just a mucky again in a few weeks (the grease is like an extra seal 😉 ) and you could damage your hob aswell if its the type that has a detatchable hotplate top with the screws going directly into the worksrface inside the hob.

Almost all Belling ovens are made by Stoves now.

Your local gas engineer will be as much use as phoning a landscape gardener on these ovens unless your local engineer is an ex stoves engineer, also this repair could be very expensive…. be warned.

    (2) this time i left the oven on for about 5 mins & yes it turns down now but the old thermostat turned down in about 1 min can this be right,
thanks for the replys so far.

Your oven shouldnt turn down after 1 minute no, 5 mins is much more what I would expect, your oven will only turn down on temparature so if the oven hasnt reached the gas mark you turn it to the flame will be unaffected, have you actually tried cooking with the oven rather than just looking at the flame ?

Thats not really known for being a noisy oven.

And the stoves also requires ventilation from behind the oven, they are outlets on the front to keep the control panel and doors cooler, the cooling fan on the back sucks air into the appliance to cool the doors and cp and also to feed the burners with air.
