March 13, 2024 at 6:19 pm in reply to: Is the Bosch WAN28250GB split tub and brushless motor? #489278
andyjawa
ParticipantThis might be a bit clearer, The WAN28250GB/01 has a sealed tank, and a Chinese made made brushless motor.
The WGG04409GB/01 has the same tank and same motor. The sealed tank is £255.38.
The WAN28282GB/38 (there are only 2 versions listed and there are no parts listed for a /01): this has a separate rear half tank which comes with the new bearings and oil seal prefitted and is £188.20, the front half of the tank is £79.70 and the tank seal and screws kit is £5.83. This also has a brushless motor but its not the same part as the two models as above.NOTICE TOO. I based this on with the wan and the wgg models as above both as /01 versions. There are other versions listed when you look those model WAN28259GB/?? and WGG04409GB/?? which MIGHT be different to the /01. I will not have time to check every single /?? number but you might. I only mention this because I got caught out once and PRESUMED they were all the same (different models to what you mention as above though) so U check just incase.UPDATE I just check something you need to know, the plot thickens, if you look up WGG04409GB/60 the preprogrammed inverter pcboard is listed at £221.48 ( which is bad enough!), however if you were to get the WGG04409GB/01 the preprogrammed inverter pcb is, wait for it…..is listed at £429.94 (i.e. Bosch in fleecing mode!!!). You want to be mega careful there what you buy Trouble is in the advrts they usually just give the model numbers without the /?? number so you caould drop yourself in the clag there..
You should also know that there are other models, usually their very pricey contraptions that also have a separate tank parts but cost a packet that I have stumbled upon where the parts are not those as used on the WAN28282GB/38. Also there are pricey models that have sealed tanks too, came across a 800 quid Bosch once. But I do not remember/know what those model numbers are now.So all good fun and games, all very Bosch!

ParticipantFound this on Ben`s youtube site. He tests an LG heat pump washer dryer. Its interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqnhrHYlFXc

ParticipantPS the water diverter can leak too but I only had that ever happen once.- and what a pain in the arse that was to replace.Reference part diagram number 0440.
andyjawa
ParticipantSorry for the delay. “The leak seems to happen towards the end of the cycle which suggests it’s when the water is draining out “- more likely due to the pressure of steam within the machine on the last rinse just before it pumps out and so: common leaks on common Bosch models of the last 10 years: the plastic based models (so the whole base where the filter is) with the remainder with top and sides in s/steel forming the tank. Very common that the plastic base warps relative to the s/steel on the r/h/side or the back so you take the r/h/s panel and look for dried / damp/wet crusty soap deposits = front to back it should be a straight line where the s/steel meets the plastic base, if the plastic base is bent outwards that is a common place for a leak over time or much more rarely very fast – silicon sealant does not repair it but a metal bar mod kit usually does from Bosch – not listed on the parts diagrams. Instant leaks the actual plastic sump warps and leaks directly down onto the under base very fast where the emergency flood protection float assembly is so you`d find out fast within 15 minutes- quite common that one and a complete pain to repair. These are the main causes of leaks on your typical SMS series of models other than a mouse attack – apparently the British Gov`t conducted a poll costing tax payers 30 million quid ( because they are all a bunch of hopeless idiots instead of getting the army up to strength for the final war that is on the horizon – presently we would run out of ammo within days – sling shots do not stop missiles or tanks) and the conclusion was that the mice thought the outlet hose is very tasty as “9 out of 10 mice said they prefered it” from the other hose from water fill chamber on the l/h/s that goes to the sump !! One other leaky point is the lower door seal especially prone if a wash blade gets jammed front to back angle – though doubt it is that but could be or the front cabinet seal. The plastic large nut thing that secures the l/h/side water resevoir to the s/steel tank is another but less common thing that gets loose you should check. Play about looking here: https://www.bosch-home.co.uk/sparepartslist/SMS25EI00G/51

Participant“I suppose there is a possibility that both heat pumps Bosch sent were faulty however that seems too unlikely.” Don`t you believe it! Although what Electrofix has said is accurate and true as usual in my experience it is not at all unlikely that the stuff Bosch churn out, especially the achillies heel heater part of the heat pump (and it is a moot point on the motor section too!). Typically these heaters fail on the worlds most badly installed built-in Bosch/Neff/Siemens versions – the machine`s that take 40 mins to get out, do the job and 45 mins to refit only to find the piece of **** to fail within 3 mins of putting on test on the quick wash programme (would of happened on any wash porogramme not specifically the quick wash). This is what happened to me as the **final straw. Another new heat pump ordered and a very reluctant trade parts warehouse, who will remain unnamed, posted off another replacement which when fitted worked and as far as known still did about 1.5 years later – but that might just be luck?
All these heat pumps were genuine parts brand new in a sealed box.Bosch group are amazingly troublesome dishwashers, because there are a mulitutude of other possible failures, mostly down to under base leaks – very common, loads of hassle to work on, probably designed by a group of sadists?
**Final straw comment. Previously around 8 months before “the final straw” I was doing loads of Bosch dishwashers and had 5 heat pumps jobs come in more or less one after each other. Everyone of them failed at just over 3 months, no trade warranty which meant I had to bear the cost of a replacement heat pump myself. Not best pleased it cost me dear. This last job I got sweet talked into doing, very reluctantly I did it and paid the price in time, money and grief. That was the very last job on Bosch group dishwashers I ever did, in fact for such a simple appliance yet abysmal stuff I decided other brands were a load of rubbish too for various reasons so late 2018/2019 I refused to work on any dishwasher and just stuck mostly with washing machines until I retired late 2022 after 40 years in the trade. It all left a bitter taste in the gob; I hate the things to this day.
Bosch know that their heatpumps are severly challenged, if they haven`t realized it then too something is seriously wrong.andyjawa
ParticipantCould you give the actual model number please. Begins with Enr lazer etched top of the s/steel inner door, can be difficult to see. Some had it written on a white label about half way down the side of the s/steel inner door. Really ancient ones it was top r/h/side at the top on a visible label more or less just by the work top lid.

ParticipantWater blockage in the pressure switch hose since the machine was turned upside down? Yes your hoover has an inverter motor type set up. How did you get on, have you traced the problem and cured the machine?
andyjawa
ParticipantWell since you would be buying a washer dryer and be buying it as a dryer to use a lot (that how it comes over) the consesus from my point of view would not to bother with a washer dryer whether conventional w/dry or a heat pump one (especially a heat pump washer dryer and even going further a heat pump tumble dryer too). OR if you really do want a w/dryer go for a conventional washer dryer and pray. What make I couldn`t tell you all I can tell you if you use one a lot expect blockages after a year or two. With the Zanussi w/dryer ones, you can get earth problems with the actual dryer heater which can give you a blank digital read out and so no go / nothing/ won`t even start and unless you knew that you could be buying 200 quids worth of new pcb which 9/10 will not cure the problem – things are not what they seem in other words especially in a so called new and improved C21st where nearly everything one way or another ends in tears / cock-up, you name it. Seems to me, though I`m retired now but only just, that the more expensive something is the more fraught with problems it shall have from cars with crap engine designs and unreiable electrics; what joy.

Participant“Is there any common issue with these?” How many do you want? Well regarding the inconsistant pump out possible causes could be 1) the pump itself – I suspect it will not be that 2) the dreaded one way valve which you cannot see – this is positioned in such a stupid place to drive the patience of a Saint – it is in the plastic sump very close to where the semi transparent hose that goes from the sump`s pump out nozzle to the heat exchanger/come water matrix behind the l/h/side metal cover. I had a partial blockage there and it was a nightmare to easily (and few things are easy on these badly designed dishwashers that only Neff/Bosch knows how) to get at it- to be honest I doubt you will if proved to be that.and it probably isn`t 3) the matrix itself though that is a possibility it is doubtful 4) the outlet/drain hose itself 5) the under the sink nozzle – that is where you start if plumbed out that way. 6) 2nd place to try is that cover (you mention) to the pump chamber clicks in – see destruction booklet- if it doesn`t the pump will sense it and part pump out or no pump out at all. Most likley it`ll be either point 5 or 6, 5 costs nothing to check, 6 is the the pump entrance lid/cover thing part number 00611322 £11.56 (that won`t break the bank!) and go for that if point 5 is ok. Practically everything else is a pain in the arse to do where you may well end up doing more harm than good..

ParticipantLg 2000 quids worth of trouble then. Didn`t know about this model even existed which is not at all surprising. One to lay down and avoid. Looks as though it shreaded her undies there! That`s a bummer.
AEG Russian video. So the jist is. Well he, Denis (Dennis), says it has some good features but it is compomised by being too complex. Too many marketing men involved and not enough thoughtful engineering has gone into the machine (although the basic idea has some merit) to make it accessible for repairing. Well, he t`aint wrong there except for the merit bit but that is just my opinion! One to avoid me thinks too. Thought the dryer lint filter was cheap and tacky and so about as much use as an Indesit pay increase or a chocolate fire guard. Almost as crazy as a 1980s Ariston CD1258 washer dryer where the design on paper looked groovy but they forgot that the dryer chamber the water would condense there and build up and leak out….which it did in abundance, that caused some fun and games, think that pile of junk were nearly 500 quid at the time….real spons back then.
Someone might have to rethink their plans. Buy a washing machine and a clothes horse, join the rest of us mere mortals, or buy a conventional washer dryer and also enjoy soggy wet lint blockages too where, I would suspect, it wouldn`t be covered by the warranty..andyjawa
Participant“If normal condenser tumble dryers” should have read: If normal condenser washer dryers.

ParticipantThink, least in uk there is only one to choose from and that is the AEG 9000 series freestanding heat pump washer dryer model L9WEC169R. Size is Height 870mm width 597mm and depth 636mm. price £1299.99. Could well be out of stock which could mean what it says or could be for machine technical reasons.Go AEG website then find Documents for this product and there is plenty to read most of which I haven`t. I went to their spares section to look up the machine and based my search on product code 91460032101. Complex machine of course got 4 pcboards all cost a lot just some more than others. Sealed tank at 231 quid. Door seal 60 quid. Several parts are not available ref the dryer and those parts do not have prices: this could mean the parts are being redesigned or to something more sinister so unknown. Warranty ?
Another brand h/pump w/dryer but not available in UK as far as known is the GE (usa), best see youtube video https://youtu.be/d80EZaoiQMg?si=eUyCyjE4ggRiDza3
No disrespect to you. But with all complex stuff a lot of engineers/tech with this machine out of its warranty will want to avoid it with a 20 foot bargepole, I would (I was in business to make some money and not to lose it!), so take that into account. Historically folk buy this kind of complex stuff then when it jacks expect local bod to attempt repairs because AEG will charge considerably more – but this machine is not a penny pinch machine (i.e. it is not a Vestel made Electra for example for 230 quid) and typically owners of such machines tend to do just that probably to pay for their never ending repairs to their Chelsea Tractor 4X4 Range Rover. The guys who work on this stuff are company trained, Tom Dick or Harry will not be. Bear that in mind for when it goes wrong which indeed it will. If normal condenser tumble dryers are famous for reliability issues one that has the extra complications of a heat pump too will no doubt be either just as tarnished or most likely worse.Read the reviews too as to what you should expect.andyjawa
Participantif there is a soap box concertina pipe (breather pipe) to the tank check that for blockade especially the tank end – have had them seal over there with gunk . For a strange reason I cannot get the parts diagram up online for some reason – won`t recognise your model number. You might also want to check the sump hose – remove it from the tank and check the tank area and hose for potential blockages there too. Failing that, you say you changed the pump, complete pump as a unit or just a pump motor? Could still be outlet hose too

ParticipantAnd if the motor brushes have worn out best replace with genuine Beko brushes rather than the cheap pattern brushes and run those in on a programme without any clothes in the machine.
andyjawa
ParticipantIn other words it is friction smoke. Usually when the spider rots and fractures it is new machine buying time.If you prove this fault and want to know how much the parts will be we`ll need the actual model number of the machine – on a label, on the inner door frame, towards the top of the door. Model begins with Enr: ……/.. The spider comes as a new drum complete on the Bosch models you can dismantle (though that is not that straight forward) but there are plenty of Bosch models that are sealed tanked which means a complete new tank unit. Either way not cheap to get done.
