    Re: Hotpoint W865A

This machine will probably be fitted with an induction motor and inverter board. If so, tug the black lead that goes from the motor loom to earth. I had one that was tearing clothes; the drum speeded up on the rinses like the old 95 series Hotpoints did when the AKO timers used to burn internally.
Eventually found it – the black earth wire was snapped off at the body terminal amp tag. 😉 Sorted!!

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

The motor plug is keyed so you can’t really make a mistake on this. For reference, when fitted, the plug wires will be at the bottom. 😉 Make sure you secure the motor mounting plate to the 2 holes in the back panel – lift the motor up so the 2 tabs fit in their respective slots and fix the plate to the machine using self tapping screws. (Hint:- you can pinch the 2 screws from the old pump’s coil cover – they are a perfect fit).

    Hope that helps,

Re: Water level not up to correct height: Zanussi ZT 695

It could be a water metering issue; the level is controlled by the airbox and pressure switch behind the left side panel. I would be looking at the wash pump not circulating properly as the water in this range of dishwasher will never cover the heater; the water is heated as it flows down over the heater.
The most common causes of exposed heater element failure is poor circulation from wash pump; no water in the sump so no water circulated (blockage) or cutlery dropped across the heater causing a form of heatsink that taxes the element and will lead to premature failure.

Power off before any inspection – no live testing!! :plug:

Re: Premium Appliance Brand DW009 E3 error code

    To answer your 2 points:-

    1) It could be the heater element faulty or the cut out has gone open circuit. Test both for continuity; both should show a closed circuit with the heater showing some resistance. Power OFF before any inspection begins – no live testing!! :plug:

But if the fault can be found and the part is reasonable, then a repair will keep it off the landfill for a little longer. Emphasis on the words “a little longer.

    2) Almost certainly has the charm of the Orient……..does it have a triangular sump filter? That is the stainless part of the filter assembly. If it does, then it is a Chinese made Indesit clone.
Now to explain the level of quality of this product. Indesit dishwashers are…..well, dreadful – and the Chinese clones of them are cheap versions of a dreadful machine. 🙁 Not a good start.
Bosch, although more expensive, will give a better life with less hassle and down time. Do your research (ask on here and we will be brutally honest with you) and buy something better. That will not be difficult.

The latter is the best bet…….. 😉

    Cheers, Chris!!

Connect show that part number as a flowmeter, but it listed as not available….is it shown on Masterpart (I’m assuming you are looking on there). It looks like a Servis dishwasher, so I wouldn’t be all that surprised if it was obsolete.

    Thanks for the info,

    Re: Bosch WTL5500 Con-Dryer

Open circuit between drum and pick up brush; wire faulty or brush worn / stuck in holder; or PCB. It seems the machine assumes the load is dry so goes to ‘cool down and stop’ part of the program.

    Hope that helps,

    Re: Whirlpool ADG7560

Remove the left side of the machine, the flowmeter is at the bottom. They are only available with the airbox as an assembly and not cheap.
Check the connection to the reed switch on the flowmeter – they get oxidized and fail. Remove the plug, crimp it tighter with pliers, clean the contact tracks on the reed switch PCB and refit. Worth a try.
Also check the level (or OWI) switch in the sump next to the filter. The black mesh often blocks and disables the switch diaphragm.

    Hope that helps,

It is a real shame that Connect feel the need to head this way. But they already have everything under one roof or should I say two; spares and service. They have all the angles covered, thats business I suppose you have to grab what you can and seize all the opportunities.

Well, I cancelled Phil last week and we had a long chat about discount and all that has been aforementioned. We talked about Connect’s position and apparent nonchalant attitude towards the repairers. The conversation developed into a “What if the WTA were able to compile a database of approved repairers with varying skillsets?” (similar in some ways to Repairs @). With the COP in place and all repairers working to it, could the guarantee work be prised from Repaircare’s grasp? The WTA would have the regulated workforce, independent and flexible. Connect’s Repaircare ATM has no really comparable rival for the insurer to compare against. The insurer is always looking at ways to improve their lot, so can we offer that alternative? Phil said what was lacking in the past was the availability of skilled engineers to start such a scheme. If the WTA has the workforce then Phil believes he can facilitate the “redirecting” of work from Repaircare to the WTA members. He said the opportunity was there before, but the lack of coherence in the whitegoods trade has made it difficult to pull it off. He is willing to provide the resources to achieve that end and is convinced it can be done. (the man’s on a mission!).

It is something to elaborate on later but it could be yet another iron in the fire for the WTA.

I’m always a little nervous about visiting the scrap yard regularly as they have cameras and take your details each time you weigh in. Is anyone else here bothered about the possibility (however remote) of a visit from DEFRA asking for proof of WEEE compliance or waste carrier’s licence?

I think the Millers was about the centre of everybody – apart from Ken. It’s not bad – and if the rooms can be block booked then it should be reasonable. Website shows £49 B+B ATM – not too bad but if it was £69+ then I’d rather the Hilton TBH.
Did UKW get a better rate last time?

I was hoping to do it all in one hit – that’s all. The COP and the use of Qualtex’s legal department were really the defining points IMO. Having Phil at the meeting putting names to faces would also cement our resolve about the WTA first hand.

I’ll arrange another time to meet Phil, it doesn’t matter….9th it is then.

To remove the heater:- Undo the nut to the end of the thread and tap the stud in. Remove the wires. Then gently prise the heater out with a screwdriver.

Testing the heater:- You need to read my post again. This site will not condone live testing. Bench testing the heater is both pointless and dangerous. You MUST not attempt this. The heater is not designed to work out of water and will fail quickly. This is pointless. The heater could be live and if you touch it……:zap: This is dangerous. Even if you don’t touch it, feeling it get hot proves nothing. You already said in your original post that the water was warm. 😕 The integrity of the heater’s insulation is in question here and if you do not have an insulation tester that will perform a 500V earth leak test in controlled conditions then it cannot be done safely.

But I’ve already told you what is wrong. 😕
