I have given advice on the public forums many times in the past; hopefully the recipient will make use of it. It is important to remember that any information is only useful IF:-

    1) The recipient has the nonce to understand it,

    2) They have the ability to put it into practice;

    3) They have the patience to do the job to its conclusion;

    4) They have ordered the right parts,

    5) They are not just trying to gauge how difficult the job is and then realise they can’t be bothered anyway and call someone to do it….

And finally the information is only worthwhile if they have diagnosed the fault correctly in the first place.

The issue here is seeking to aportion blame for a percieved threat to our livelyhood. This woeful tale was being told when I started in 1983 and I’m still here. In fact, the sheds, Argos and the price comparison sites on the net are more of a threat than a few “How to do it” videos.
Helping the public can be constructive – it will win their trust and therefore they are far more likely to use someone who has tried to helped them.

It would be fair to say that we are all worried about the decline of this industry and think that something should be done to help the independant engineers; like pushing for a better deal from work providers and spares suppliers and fighting for a Code Of Practice for recognition as a genuine Trade in the eyes of the Government and the general public.

But then you’d already be a Whitegoods Trade Association member. Griping is all well and good on this site, we all know what’s wrong with this trade, so help us try and remedy the situation and turn the tables in our favour. Working together is the key……

Worn motor brushes can cause this type of fault.

I’m doing lots from the front now – especially the integrated stuff. Front panel off and the rear of the motor is easily accessible. Fiddly to start with, but as is the case with lots of jobs in this trade, practice quickens the pace.
ATEOTD, there’s always the other way to fall back on. Tilting the machine sideways is the easiest method, and the use of a 10mm ratchet spanner as available in B&Q for a few quid, motor removal is straightforward as the socket ratchet doesn’t get in the way.
I’ve also found that the Qualtex brushes spark much less than the Electrue ones, although I’ve not compared them side by side.

Have you checked the ‘stat in the door? Open the door and look up under the gasket around the door aperture. You will see 2 screws and the head of the door filter stat. This is a 58 degree stat and they do fail. The wiring can also burn and fail. Undo the 2 screws and pull the stat down gently. It may be necessary to remove the lid and relieve the tension on the wires if the stat cannot be pulled out easily.

Power off before any investigation. :plug:

Re: DeDietrich dishwasher DVF300 fully integrated

All Brandt dishwashers have the sequence chart included and if computer controlled, the wiring diagram as well. There’s even a clip provided in the chassis moulding to hold it. Shame other manufacturers don’t do this, isn’t it? IIRC, the only other make that include the diagram inside is Miele.

Possibly jammed pump. DeDietrich dishwasher are Brandt under the skin – think old Hotpoint DF53 – roughly the same apart from PCB control. The spray diverter valve on these are troublesome; found underneath the machine (bottom plastic tray clips downwards) they usually leak first, so check the base for water.

1975H7 also fits all the early Zanussi condenser driers – TC470 / 481 etc. Genuine around £5.50 + VAT.

Have you meggered the motor? I had a machine a while back with a fault like this and found it to be a shorting armature. 😉

    Re: APM8552/2 i/a/w

OMG….exactly the fault I have had recently with the same machine!! I have a APM8552 in the workshop with faults that started with no spin. Refurb PCB from Tony, spin problem still there. Removed the plugs from the module, tweaked each connector to tighten the plugs, problem solved. 😀

Spoke too soon, of course, this is a Servis machine! Spin is now OK and the machine now boils the clothes on any setting. 😯 Thought it could only be the thermistor, as the heater tested out perfectly. Tried a new thermistor, no different. So I tried a replacement PCB (now I know why Tony was out of stock Chris!), and it’s still boiling up. 👿
I just pulled it in the workshop as I couldn’t spend any more time on it in the home.
I tested everything on the heater circuit again and found no evidence of a fault. Tightened all the edge connectors again and it now seems to control the temperature correctly. Phew!!

Then the drum shaft seal starts screaming like a banshee on the final spin…………why couldn’t all those faults have happened at the same time and the world could have been relieved of another Servis washer. :angry4:

Just about to give up trying on this machine…….it’s telling me something………… 🙁

    Re: Whirlpool ADG722WH program issues.

This machine is crazy. I’ve tried the mains filter as suggested, but unfortunately it didn’t make a difference. Thanks anyway!!
The machine is in the workshop so I could monitor it today and I seem to have exhausted all possibilities apart from the PCB. It works through the cycle as if it was set to soak, yet it heats and opens the dispenser. It drains and will not refill for rinses. It just shuts down and the Start indicator goes out. Cycle time = approx. 20 mins in total.
Wash motor has a tiny weep from the seals – looks like it’s going to be another scrapper……… :rolls:

    Any other ideas welcome!!

    Thanks,

    Steve.

Re: zanussi jetsystem 1250 clock/ programmer stop

Stopping on the wash cycle will usually point to heater element failure. Wash quality will be affected.
One quick test is to set the machine on a hot cycle and after about fifteen minutes check the door glass for warmth. You can also hear the heater “sing” if you open the dispenser and put your ear to the soap drawer. It’ll sound like a kettle boiling.
If no noise is heard and no heat is felt on the door glass, it is probably the heater.
Power off if you are to investigate…….:plug:

    Re: zanussi zwd1471

Look for a blocked condenser or its bottom hose. I had a ZWD that was giving spurious fault codes related to the pressure switches. The blockage in the condenser allowed the machine to fill for a few moments but then as the jetsystem pump started, it slowly began to fill the condenser as the water could not escape fast enough in to the tub past the blockage. The analogic pressure switch sensed the drop in the level of water in the tub and the PCB faulted. It also affected the drier.

For reference, the analogic pressure switch is the small black one near the PCB. It has a large cross on the top resembling a philips screw head. Do not blow into an analogic pressure switch as it will damage it. It is a very sensitive device. The anti – boiling switch is the large pressure switch mounted under the centre frame rail. It is a regular pressure switch with 2 levels IIRC.

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.
