Another thought on this issue something you said “ I would not deviate from the original and fit new Heater assemblies every time.” So does this mean you do not use pattern parts and would not recommend the use of them.
Both Connections and Qualtex do a pattern part dryer element for just over £15 (compared to Hotpoint stat/toc kit at £9) I have used these for grantee repairs, using the stat and cut-out only, as fitting the complete heater can on most occasions require you to completely strip the machine down. Would you not recommend this?

I totally agree with what you say Martin, it is a nice little earner but the problem is that when the cut-out goes under guarantee and I have to fit a heater element, yes it is down to my terms of guarantee as you say.
With regards to what Dave said “what if the dryer catches fire” I have never come across one that has. I have seen many vented dryers (the old Hoover/Hotpoint/Servis with open elements) that have got so much fluff in them that it has burnt this fluff, have you seen any catch fire?
I do take you point thought about not deviating from the original if only there was some where to buy them from.

    Thanks for the replies

I now have this machine in my workshop and have tried it three times before it finished full of water and the end light just on and not flashing.
I have not had time to investigate further but my first thought is pump toc operating.
Have printed out the Instruction Book for this model so as to know which programs it does not spin on or have rinse hold

    Thanks for that iadom

On my other post about this machine baron said “Could you check “door lock” contact ( between “L” & “C”) and related wires”

It might be to do with door lock or wiring

Re: Whirlpool AWM6163 Bearing seal-v ring

Thanks to all of you that have posted a reply, John got it right it’s not a seald tank and the stainless steel backplate does come off with a bit of a tug. Once I could get to the drum the old seal was still in place on the end of the shaft.

Once again many thanks to all of you.

    Thanks for the reply John.

I have got the cast housing off which holds the bearings I am just not sure where the seal goes.

Definitely a sealed stainless steel tank and the 12nc is correct 857081615101

Thanks to both your reply’s but cannot get to the back of the drum spider as it has a sealed tank and there is very little space between spider and backplate.

I was wondering if the seal fitted into the back plate itself?
