    Re: London Fire

If it is a fridge fire, its going to massively effect the manufacturer, I imagine the MD’s at BEKO has got a few sleepless nights ahead until forensics prove the cause.

Imagine the punters in Currys, “BEKO, aren’t they the ones who caused that massive tower block to burn down, think ill get a Bush or a Curry’s Essential instead?”

no doubt they will be slung in the skip in a few days if not already, shame as I think they would look good even in the most modern kitchen.

    Hi Lawrence,
Yes fitted a few motor seal kits.
The seal kit can be bought separately from the motor, as far as I know you can only purchase it directly from miele.

Re: Whats the most annoying thing tenants do?

In my opinion the most annoying thing tenants do is not bother keeping appointments.

The amount of times I’ve arranged to go to a tenanted property and they haven’t bothered to turn up!.

I now will only go to a tenanted property if I’ve spoken to the tenants directly before setting out to the property.

So you’ve pulled 12 wires out from the terminal block!.

This will be a difficult fix for even the most competent appliance engineer, I would recommend calling for professional help.

So how much did the manufacturers charge to tell you what you already knew that it would be a expensive drum repair if you don’t mind me asking?

    Re: Qualtex Account Closure

Its shocking and its difficult to see the business sense in Qualtex closing small accounts down.

Connect did this to me nearly five years ago when I only spent £725 pounds in a year with them.
Never bought anything with them since, their loss as spending at the same rate with them would now mean nearly 4K of business has gone else where.

Remember there are alternatives who do want your business!!

(The General Trade Forum is sponsored by Qualtex so I’m sure the sponsors have something to say about this?)

    Re: Display totally dead?

Ha yes exactly, too rich for my blood, cant risk spending near £200 of my own cash on a pcb!

Unfortunately there is a difference in asking someone else to gamble £200 than gambling myself!.

I would be interested to know what caused it as well, but I checked all the other components so I thought its worth asking the customer to buy the part.

    Re: Display totally dead?

    Hi Jim,
I had this exact problem a few months ago, I asked the customer to purchase the display pcb themselves as I didn’t want them to take the risk.
Fitted and all working now since early May.

Interestingly when I had a close look at the display pcb I did notice a cracked microchip

Re: Questions from a 4th year Apprentice

As Martin says you have to put pressure on your boss to get you a insulation tester as your fault finding will always be limited with a multi meter.

This really is a good question you have asked and not a easy question to answer. You have been given some good theory regarding AC here.

The basic theory is right here but within the complex circuitry of individual modern machines the ‘hot’ wire can be either the live or the neutral and does switch bonding from one to another. It takes a while to get your head around.

    Good reading here:
