no need to worry about the top…if the kitchen units don’t touch the ceiling then there is sufficient space behind the housing (built in to their design) and the warm air will just rise up behind and up towards the ceiling.
…as to replacing the compressor…well it is the main event in any cooling product, it requires major surgery to replace (gas tight connections need to be braized or crimped) and then a fresh charge of coolant gas installed. The cost of the compressor depends on its size but it will certainly not be a cheap repair!March 8, 2005 at 6:04 pm in reply to: CREDA Easy Load Condensair Dryer Model 37747 s/n 58101849 #128034clivejameson

Martin’s correct, also i and many other reputable repairers have a fixed labour charge regardless of length of time taken so it’s well worth fixing, just not really a DIY job unless you’re particularly adventurous of course 😉

just an after thought…..is the ice hard or is it snowy?….if its snowy then you might just have an airleak from worn/broken hinges

sounds like the compressor is worn out SSW, beyond economical repair. Although its not a spring chicken at 8 years old, its still not that old…you need to check that the correct ventilation has been arranged in the housing.
Most require a large vent slot in the kick panel of the kitchen unit (can be covered with a decor grill) which allows air to travel under the appliance, up the rear of it (collecting the warmth of the appliance) and out through the top of the housing…bit like a chimney effect. Time and time again i see frs and fzs with no ventilation provided and they wheeze on for a few years before the compressor gets tired, by which time the installers are long gone.
All this will apply to your new machine too of course.clivejameson

you have the springs reversed, the left on the right and so on. A real headscratcher sometimes but perseverance is the name of the game…just don’t attempt to use brute force (means they are still in the wrong position), and it will suddenly become clear!

If it sounds like it’s running but the drum isn’t going around then you almosr certainly have a broken belt. This is not serious but most definitely not a DIY job as it invovles quite a major strip down to get the new belt around the drum.

…ask you to call in to their office for their key then expect a lift home with you (its a van mate, not a taxi!)
finally make the cup of coffee they offered, but they do it in the microwave with hot milk just as you close your toolbox
grab a tool from your toolbox without asking so they can do a DIY job while you’re there (sooooo annoying!)on the plus side… when you’ve had a nightmare getting the machine out from under the worktop, off the tiny blocks of wood under the feet, up and over the two layers of tiles on the floor, and managed to thread the hoses and cable through the maize of pipes and holes in the cupboards…the the lady of the house says ‘don’t worry about putting it back, i’ll get my husband to do that’ :rotfl:

you need to check the tap is turned on (silly i know but easily missed) and that the fill hose is not kinked anywhere.
if still no go then you will need an engineer….have a look in Repairs@clivejameson
ParticipantRe: candy aqw130 doesn’t spin
Hi vasiliok
If there is no motor action at all then it could be a number of things, the brushes being the most likely, however to determine the fault the brushes could be visually examined but anything else requires the use of a meter.
If it is simply not doing the final spin then you may have a blockage in the water level control.
If you look in Repairs@ you’ll find someone to cover your area.clivejameson

Hi nemo
haven’t seen one of those for many moons…i recall they had a penchant for going up in smoke when the harness failed…might there be an internal break in the harness?

to refit…a careful twist will unlock the plastic clip, refit the band then squeeze to clip together again to tension it

Hi Andy
The door seal’s the easy bit…you need to carefully prise the wire over the edge of the seal. A small flat blade driver under the top part of it will do the trick.
As to not heating on the dryer, the machine has overheat protectors on the hot air duct, these need to be checked first and if any are open circuit then the cause needs to be ascertained.clivejameson

De Dietrich or Smeg Martin? I’ll have a look at the tech on Monday.

ParticipantRe: Weird Part Price’s
Martin….on the whole i’d agree…most of the suppliers i deal with (including all those you mention) i have been trading with for a number of years so one gets to know the right people to talk to when their particular computer won’t tell them which part may be a suitable alternative. However one example springs to mind…a few weeks ago i was asked to repair a De Dietrich steam oven, very expensive and ok not very common but not very old either. The water supply regulator had failed and De Dietrich technical told me it was obsolete and there was no way to repair the appliance (!)
After chatting to a couple of mates in the trade i discovered that the identical part was available with a totally different part number for a totally different model. Fortunately my customer hadn’t yet replaced the offending machine so i was able to repair it for a small cost.
So….little gems like that, posted here just might get someone out of a hole…and wouldn’t bring the internet highway down to a 10 mph limit 😉 -
