    Re: Hotpoint WMA34 Problems

Hi Dermot – Have a look on the home page and you will see a brief intro to the ISE machine. Its a machine specified by members of this forum with a 5 year parts warranty and 1 year labour (extendable if you wish). Those of us that have signed up to sell this machine, in the main, have all been trained to repair it. Read on for more info ……

If you can find a local repairer that does fridge work try them before the manufacturers I think you will find them to be much cheaper and faster to respond to your needs. Repairs @ is a good starting point as you have not indicated what part of the country you are located.

Noted Dave – However alittle pressure at an early stage on UKW sometimes has amazing results. Bearing in mind the current problems with AIS, I would perhaps be looking over my shoulder if I was John.

    Re: LPG and costs

Thanks to Alex for illuminating it from a company that does the work. The point is where do we go from here. Have we a way forward with this, is it a case of getting to grips with our local MPs and getting things changed from a governmental point of view? Or do we get some training establishment to put together a dedicated course then getting Corgi to except it?

    Re: LPG and costs

I have to say that I have found this one of the most interesting discussions I’ve read for quite awhile. As one who doesn’t do gas work but would like to do (and this is a big LPG area being rural) I think in someway Andy has an interesting point. For me the thing is getting into the market without being made bankrupt in the process. Of the six corgi registered engineers on my patch, only 2 do cooker/tumble dryers. The potential is there but whilst Corgi bugger about with training on central heating systems and wont put together a domestic appliance package I just cant see a way forward. I doubt that there is a single engineer on UKW that has a problem with gas safety modules but until Corgi/H&S/Government change their attitude I for one see no way forward. Its ironic that the likes of BG (or whatever they call themselves) can blow up houses and kill people by poor workmanship, those of us with a good safety record can’t even get into the market. Im sure that George Downes is looking in the right direction.

Perhaps someone would enlighten me as to why I have the B&Q logo flashing in my left hand side area?

    Re: QER v EMW

We use both of them and I have the same concerns as both Martin and Jim with QER. However, I have also had problems with EMW and what they deem their guarantee. ie We sent a Indesit w series module in to them with a heater relay fault. Replaced the heater for the customer together with fit of EMW repaired module. Two months down the track the module blew up and they refused to repair it under their guarantee. Left me out of pocket big time. In defence of QER they have a much larger range of product but quality control is abit lax. EMW on the other hand have smaller range but quality seems better especially on timers.

Interesting that we got our first job from JTM today after a gap of about a year. If John has taken over we’d be happy enough – at least what you see is what you get.
