ParticipantRe: HOOVER MODULE
TA tim
i usually carry a spare module and motor to any hoover motor fault.
i was just wondering as i have a few mock up pcb testers that i find come in handy so that i canb totally elimante pcb / motor as the fault. i have a unit to plug into the motor block direct that i made to test the motor but it does not show up all faults.
just thought if i could put power to the board in the correct place after testing thee motor then i could know for sure.
but thanx anyway:):)DDSDDS

8 flashes is perhaps the most common one i see and it always occurs during the period of filling just as it stops and starts again, i find usually is dry joints on the board or the actual relay itself and tends to solve the problem for me 9 times in ten, the only time it doesnt is if the board has visably blown.
just lucky i guess 🙂DDSDDS
ParticipantRe: Hoover AC178 not spinning
i would advise you change the brushes and stop trying to spin the machine as you may totally kill the motor.
brushes are cheap motors aint!
good luck 🙂DDSDDS

usually if you find the dial ticking pretty soon during the fill it will flash 8 times and be a heater relay fault but count the flashes and let us know

do not try the original door lock unless you fancy doing some more soldering or knackering your timer altogether

ParticipantRe: Another joke.
A young boy, about eight years old, was at the corner “Mom & Pop”
grocery picking out a pretty good size box of laundry detergent. The
grocer walked over, and, trying to be friendly, asked the boy if he had
a lot of laundry to do.“Oh, no laundry,” the boy said, “I’m going to wash my dog.”
“But you shouldn’t use this to wash your dog. It’s very powerful and if
you wash your dog in this, he’ll get sick. In fact, it might even kill
him.”But the boy was not to be stopped and carried the detergent to the
counter and paid for it, even as the grocer still tried to talk him out
of washing his dog.About a week later the boy was back in the store to buy some candy. The
grocer asked the boy how his dog was doing.“Oh, he died,” the boy said.
The grocer, trying not to be an I-told-you-so, said he was sorry the dog
died but added, “I tried to tell you not to use that detergent on your
dog.”“Well,” the boy replied, “I don’t think it was the detergent that killed
him.”“Oh? What was it then?”
“I think it was the spin cycle!”
