I have that same oven at home, the big device on the single resistor is a 70 degrees cut in, normally open rather than a thermal fuse, needless to say.

segments in display should cycle around for a few seconds before displaying wash time according to programme selected. Door will not lock until time is displayed and start button pressed.
Would have a look at the brushes as while the segments are cycling it does a diagnostic check.

Re: Hoover VHW654D-80 front fascia buttons.

we used to get a lot of these on the MFI versions, if its the same, the button assembly was only weakly clipped into the facia and was easy to push through especially by those who keep pressing ever harder waiting for the machine to start making noises regardless of the fact that there is a delay of a few seconds after the start button is pressed. it could easily be clipped back into place, but even better there was a stud and hole ready to accept a self tapper (or even 2 IIRC) that had obviously been dispensed with in some cost cutting exercise so fitting a couple of “back panel”style self tappers made a permenant repair.

child already hiding in drier, busy parent throws some stuff in, slams door switches on and rushes off……. just guessing really.
If anyone has ever needed to get an old Zanussi drier door open when the cable or button has broken will know it aint so easy. again just using imagination, dont know what the drier was in this instance.

looking at the press however, I think we need to hold off any opinions on this until a cause of death is disclosed………

seen plenty of ovens fitted with that part cut away, assuming there are no electrical bits showing I would get out the tin snips. After all, Bosch intergrated dishwashers dont have any sides on anymore so whats the difference? tidy up the edges with some slit sleeving and make it look professional then no one will ever compalain.

its the obvious screws around the dispenser but there is also a hidden one screwed in form behind, it can be reached either with the top of, (if the machine is out) or by feel through the door seal, think you need it out to change the switch anyway. Knobs pull off but in this case can be left on. part number 816450249 £7.40 retail from servevast

field coils the wrong way around? or locating pins not siting into their sockets in the field coils?

next time, just blow down the holders, check for shorts, and fit the brushes!

W6561, the one model I dont have tech info on, (if anyone can help on with that then please let me know) LCD display model but otherwise similar to the older one. No known issues like this.

was it a power cut or did the machine trip the breaker?
if it tripped, check the ntc, it sits in a little pocket above the motor and is prone to shorting out due to leaks from above running down the tub. Check also for worn out motor brushes, you never know.
