have you wired that thing correctly? it is possible to get the 2 plugs in the wrong way around. was there a sign of leak from it? has been known for water to get on the microswitch and blow the module but its usually on the later types. Certain that is it the problem though.

control panel does not need to come off, first, unplug appliance, undo single bolt at bottom of door opening, remove wire band around door seal, remove kickplate (either clips off or 2 screws hidden under plugs) once off remove 2 outer screws from under the front panel (similar to Bosch) remove door interlock screws and front panel will fall off.

unlikely its the heater, surprised no error code flashes…. are you sure there ar no flashing lights?
check it has stopped filling, should stop after about 30 seconds from when the circ pump is started.
You say it draws water normally but these should do a drain and fill sequence for a good 3 minutes before filling and washing.

Missed this Jim, sorry, but the usual cause of this is a slipped off door seal under the filter. You need to look closely to notice it but the seal pops out of where it should be and needs re fitting back in. had a few over the years. I cannot picture it at the moment to give you more details but I am sure you can work it out.

is there a fast cool switch on the stat housing? if so turn it off as it heats the top rear of the fridge and should only be used when filling with a lot of fresh food and then turned off after a while. common Gorenje made Smeg compalaint.

is it heating? and when you says “stops” do you mean with alarm sounding? If its not heating it may well stop after a minute or so but AFAIK the alarm sounds. Poss heater relay board if so. There is a “warm air” dry setting which should by pass all the dryng senors and run for 20 minutes (or how ever long it says on the dial.)

almost certainly will need to put an Magnetron and invertor pcb to cure that.

the Smeg line on this is that they are sealed ovens, rather than older, in efficient vented ovens and there is no fault.

If you find an easy way then let me know! 😆

The way I do it is to reach in from the top (tight squeeze), hook the belt on the motor pulley and feed it onto the drum pulley as far as is comfortable then tightly cable tie it to the drum pulley to hold it while the rest feeds on…

    on a tumble dyer?

pressure chamber blocked maybe? also breather on top of drum to dispenser can cause slow/ poor draining on occasions.

yes, they look about the same as everything else we work on.

Martin wrote:Heater coming on with no water in tub I would think. Whether it’s gold plated or eBay cheap junk a succession of failed heaters cannot self-destruct one after the other in this way.

wouldn’t be covered in white limescale though if that was the case.

check for damage on the heater from contact with the drum, cracked drum spider flexing under fast spin load is most likely.
