Get a magnifier and look VERY carefully for dry joints on the console module. We have had 2 recently of this family (not ness this model number) where this had been the no heat problem. Try around the LOW voltage terminals of the heater relay.

It is the rear end fan, so there is something missing then? Thanks for the input.

    Re: Blocked drains?

Some of us want that customer to call us again, not charge and clear off. Of course, we will do whatever we can to clear it, if its a screw up drain our guys will take it apart and clean it, if not we carry wire things to try and do it, then at least we have justified our charge. Infact some times its a releif to find a blocked drain as the job can be considerably easier to repair than, for example a tub half change or whatever.
Had it been a warranty job we may not be so helpful, depends if the WP is willing to pay us for a no fault found or not.
I think this is another case of differrent work practices between those of us who carry out and seek more chargeable work and those who just do warranty stuff.

The funniest ones is when the customer goes and buys a NEW MACHINE cos their old one leaks, doesnt want to pay us to look at it and the new one leaks just as bad as its the drain at fault, have to laugh really.

No doubt there will be another spares price rise shortly to cover this!

Re: Which Spares Supplier(Wholesaler) is best ?

Seme have some great prices but not a huge range, the best thing about them though is their delivery service, free if over only £12 and next day delivery up until a 5pm order deadline. Compare that to Wash vac and electrue who all have £60 (before vat) order charges and 3pm deadlines.
Lately though we have reverted more and more to the manufacturers own supply as GDA now cover so many brands and give us 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} discount and its much better to get those specials through them.
Wash Vac are still the best otherwise, their stocklink system is the best no doubt for knowing instant stock availability but dont always trust their RRP’s as being correct cos they are not and its this price they base the discount off. As an example try the cost of a Hotpoint top loader power unit.
Electrolux/ Distripart are also excellent as are BSH. Miele however still wont offer us an account despite requests every month.

Put it this way, with the hassles like you get like those in this thread you have to ask at times, what’s the point?

    K.

The thing is that an employed engineer doesnt have all these hassels, justs gets his/her 8 calls, a van and a never late monthly payment into thier bank acount and goes home in the evening with no worries, yet I still cannot get a decent engineer.

Electrue have never been one to give much away, occasional kit kats in our orders though. But I remember one promotion of theirs a couple of years back when, if you bought like 100 packs of the same hoover bag they awarded you with…..wait for it ONE can of Hienieken! laugh I nearly did.
Mind you I remember the days when every xmas the rep would come in with a couple of bottles of spirits for us, now, Zilch, a poster calender and even washvacs normal calender was faulty, the hook was missing!

    Re: Gorenje

They are all pretty solidly constructed, the w162 particularly so and the driers are great, if a bit noisy. The lower priced machines have a bit of a tacky feel to the console and the mains on neon is like something I remember using in schoolboy electronics projects in the 70’s.
The thing to remember is that there are a lot of Gorenje stuff out there with differrent names on especially ovens and fridges, so its not like they are new to the trade here.
As for spares and service back up, i have not yet had to order anything but as parts are supplied by BSH appliance care, it should be pretty good, the down side is that they also have the warranty service work wrapped up so we will see little work until the 2 year warranty (on most products) is up.
But a 1200 spin at around £210 with stainless steel tub cannot be bad.

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Sometimes I really wish we had phone recorder that we could instantly replay the calls back to the customer when they complain about something.
ie: we say “we will call between 2 &5” customer hears “we will be on your doorstep at 2”

or customer says “Ill be on school run 3-3.30″ which means ” Ill be out 2.30-4.30 if your lucky”

Re: Whirpool knobs out of sync

Just a thought but have you, or a.n.other taken the timer out prior to all this? often there are loads of holes in the console and tapped holes in the timer itself. Could it be in the wrong place? If not its defo a knob problem as Martin says above.

Re: Another Indesit timer clicking round

I was wondering if its getting weird signals from the thermistor it may be trying to calculate a wash time based on the rate its heating the water, hence the seemingly random times. We had something like it on a bosch dishwasher once. difficult to prove without fitting a heater though. What does it do if you just select a rinse or spin prog then?

Martin, dont forget the simple things, I assume you have checked the heater and thermistor first?
