    Re: Cooker/Oven/Hob/Hood

separate oven/hob combos will always be more expensive than an all in one cooker. plus an all in one cooker wont look odd if you take it with you, wheras holes in units cos u took hob and oven will.

tbh the variance in price between the 2 types, brand for brand, is about £250 depending on spec. to choose a property on appliances, is silly, as engineering/construction issues will cause way more expense. in the grand scheme of buying places £250 can be lost or gained a lot easier elsewhere…

Re: TCS Midlands Ltd on watchdog "dyson repairers"

easy AM2010. im not sticking up for any of the co’s on there, but i am gonna play devils advocate.

most of that was all within the letter of the law, and think laterally about this, as there was a degree of entrapment on w/d side…

since when has a washed filter, performed as well as new one?
A: highly unlikely, so when prompted by the actor, will it be better than that (i.e, original) of course it would be… but only by a negligeable amount, but in the technical interpretation of things that w/d were assessing the “engineers”, its a correct statement…

from the video evidence, what i saw was the devious art of interpretation. the only legal letdown was the coldcalling, and promised of a complete stripdown and electrical test… the rest of the footage i would have interpretted as someone who offered their opinion, and the customer. setup or otherwise was given the opportunity to say nay. on more than one occasion they actually prompted the “engineer” on other parts.

i put myself in the engineers shoes, and from that perspective i would have been a bit sussy about the initial vagueness of the client, and then her sudden inquisitivity of her brushroll. id be thinking, ooh hello, is this a mystery shopper/ head office spotcheck to make sure im doing what i should, which would explain the change in focus from “you could” to “you should”…

plus classic james dyson response of “only our own stuff is of good quality”… well im sorry t!tface dyson, your belts are sh*yte and too soft. always use the slightly tougher qualtex ones and theyre ideal… plus why were you holding up a dc01 b/r vs a dc07 clutch b/r ???

Re: Hotpoint WDD960 Vibration/Buzz on Pump Out

is it under warranty? because if its not, thats £110 already, your better off using repairs@ if it is the pump, pump £30ish inc vat + average rep@ callout £60 inclusive, plus you should be able to be offered at least a morning, noon or evening call slot… it could be even cheaper if its a quick fix and the pumps ok?!

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/search/fi … ineer.html

and if it is under warranty, all day callouts are the way the brands service agents are going in order to get a first view within a week of a reported fault. it seems people would rather be seen inside a week and wait another week for parts to come in if needed, incase its a simple fix, rather than wait 10 days and have it fixed first time…

Re: where has all the work gone

oh dear this week now had 2x call-back cancellations, one of which we have turned around, and sorted, and had to be a fdw60 pcb :rolls: and their reasoning? “ive read on the internet its not going to be an economical repair so ive gone ahead and ordered a new machine”

us: sorry? what? weve only just priced up your part, which we havent even had a chance to tell you yet (how the hell can you therefore know its not economical?) and all this after looking at your machine YESTERDAY!

this is now the end of us being nice and presenting a total final bill at the end of a fix, instead of insisting on payment upront for a callout. we will now leave the first call with at least a full callout. GRRRRS

PS im hoping no one off ukwg have been slagging off fdw60s or wil103s lately 😮 😕 😥

Re: cda ci993 wasing maching tripping rdb

these are one of the worst built washers ive ever seen/worked on. new ones are drastically overpriced (were listed at £600+ last year) and the tub is as thin and brittle as a plastic garden bin after a heavy frost.

i think cda must be aware of a known fault as been out to 3 now in just one building developement of flats within their first year and each one has been authorised for a “goodwill” exchange with a different “upgraded” model. a fagor-based cda. the first machine we wasted 4 call outs on, and replaced the heater, the the pcb, and it worked for about 2 months before failing again with identical symptoms, so we lost faith with repairing this model, as did the agents looking after the building it seemed.

besides, if its trippign the main rcd, then its usually a short to earth, which as previously mentioned, narrows it down to 3 main comps. element, motor or pcb, the flying lead could have caused if it touched the main cabinet, but i suspect this is merely proof of their low quality of build and an ancillery issue to main fault.

personally if it was me i wouldnt spend a penny on it, cos in my experience it will constantly go wrong so bin it and get something decent like a neff or bosch. ci993s tripping seems to be a fairly regular occurance in our trade section here

Re: Bosch Maxx WFL2260 – Rapid tapping when spinning

easiest way to eliminate the motor is to take the belt off then do a spin, but id agree, pegs, legs or leg brackets. the other is a bra wire springing back and slapping the back of the tub, but youll get a 2-tone sound – i.e a tinkletaptinkletap when that happens…

    edit: (after watching vidlinx)

just remembered a hotpoint wd that did the same thing, it had managed to shake the p/switch out of its mount.

i think its time to lid off, trial test on spin (with load) and then go from there. otherwise id still suspect bearings, but with a fwd to bkwd play ala zanussi, rather than up and down play. does it make the noise on an empty spin ???

how long should a 40*c cotton wash be tho? what model was the aeg, as ive had a few people complain about the lenght of a cotton wash on recent lux jobbies. iirc with some of the zwf1211s if you look in the book lux con you into thinking a eco40 main wash is only 180 minutes… thats 3 hours 🙂

but good luck getting hold of them. would be worth finding out from elux what the last revised part no was for those, as they are bound to have changed it since the service parts list was printed… that might help you track down current stocks of spares from the world…

thats very well dill, but you got the add on sales *before* finding out the customer would be a pita, what you were referring to before was going out the way to help an upfront pita customer 🙂 plus onsite indie/local builders and kitchenfitters will always change the dynamic of a sale, they are the real people you need to impress and go out of the way for, as they are the ones who get you the repeat business. a customer whos main consideration is price, will never be a loyal unless you are within about {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}5 of the cheapest option.

im cheeky, if someone even drops a hint that theyre doing a kitchen i always ween out whether theyve actually ordered all the kit. if not i tell her to either come back with whats shes chosen, or help her choose it if shes not got that far.

    buy this

    http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Tumble+D … g+Kit.html

and this (if the belt has dissapeared from the drum)
    http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Tumble+D … +Belt.html

hotpoint bearing kits used to have vague instructions included.

youll need philips s/driver, possibly rivetting tool, and a 18″+ long screwdriver/strong peice of V-section metal strip to act as a belt puller.

PLUG OUT FIRST before doing anything to machine or you will get a :eeek:

there is absolutely no need to have any electricity in the machine during the whole of this job

    TIPS:

ive always found access easiest by removing lid, then LHS panel (the side the vent is on). theres lots of hidden screws, so if it doesnt feel like its going to move, dont force it. you will need to take off the fascia panel. there are 2screws holding it screwed from the inside, rhs iirc and plastic catches on lower long edge. this then allows acces to top front screw holding side panel on.

always check front pads, if one of bottom 2x is paper thin, replace all of them. and have some 1/2″ self tapping pan head screws spare as a couple of ~TVR2s ive worked on seem to have had screws missing from new, hastening body flex and belt snappage… ~HTH~

    Re: zwd12270 burnt interlock connection

thats what i thought but it doesnt seem to explain why its gone thru 3 interlocks. and only just now has started to get very hot and burn?? got a loom on order, but on other zanussis this usually entails replacing most of the wiring as each connection block seems to be interlinked with another components block. argh why can it be simple?!
